Born and raised in Precinct 8. Attended Brookline schools. Progressive incumbent Town Meeting Member. Appointed as Precinct 8’s representative to the Town’s Advisory (Finance) Committee, serving as Chair of the Public Safety subcommittee (Police, Fire) and also serving on the Human Services subcommittee (Library, Veterans, Council on Aging, Health). I was appointed to the Moderator’s Committee on Forms of Government, as well as the Town’s Naming Committee. I also serve on the Steering Committee for the North Brookline Neighborhood Association. My email is dmgoldstein9@gmail.com.
Our Town Meeting form of government is designed to encourage resident participation and needs to include everyone’s voices and ideas. My responsibility is to continue speaking out on the many concerns our neighborhood faces, including affordable housing, senior issues, education, the need for complete streets for everyone, fighting climate change, etc. Reaching out to ~4,000 residents is complicated, and communication in today’s world is fragmented. The challenge is to ensure that residents know the issues that will affect our neighborhood. We need engaged residents to reach out to their TMMs. I ask for your vote so I can continue to ensure that our neighborhood’s concerns are heard at Town Hall. Endorsed by PAX, & Brookline By Design.

I am a retired pediatrician and Associate Clinical Professor at Harvard. I co-founded the National Institute for Children's Health Quality in 1999 and led it until 2015. I was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Services Policy, US DHHS in the Obama Administration through 2016. I am a leader of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization’s Housing Justice Campaign; chair of the Brookline Advisory Council on Public Health; senior advisor at Boston anti-poverty nonprofit Economic Mobility Pathways; and immediate past president of Temple Sinai Brookline. I first moved to Brookline in 1982, and have lived here continuously since 1991. I'm married to Judith Fabricant. My two adult children attended Brookline public schools.
I am running because I want Brookline to be a place that more fully reflects its professed liberal values, i.e., a place where a diversity of residents can call the Town home, the schools enable excellent outcomes for all, we lead the nation in the tackling climate change and advancing public health and more. Endorsed by Brookline for Everyone and Pax, I conveyed my priorities when first running two years ago by knocking on doors, and since by doing community walks concerning the Harvard Street re-zoning, holding public meetings together with precinct TMM prior to each Town Meeting and responding to all inquiries from constituents. If re-elected, I will continue these strategies of engagement.

A normal person tries to live a not-too-normal life. I am a Dad of two daughters in BHS and FRR. In my first term as a town meeting member, I led the warrant articles to make digital meeting documents a default option to reduce printing needs.

About myself, I was lucky to have a job that allowed me to work on a special project to turn carbon dioxide into plastic to replace petroleum-based plastics. My home has used 100% green energy from https://brooklinegreen.com for heating, cooking, and everything else. For 1000 sqft of space with two adults and two kids, the annual energy bill is $2980 with a heat pump and an electric water tank. (No gas, no oil). I encourage you to explore the potential to turn your place into green energy space.
As a supporting coach for a 2nd-grade girl soccer team and the parent of an 11th-grade high schooler, I frequently engage with parents in school and neighbors in my community. I also supported the previous Yes-on-three campaign to limit the number of marijuana stores in our town. I will keep sharing the information I digest with my communities.

In addition, as a Taiwanese-American in Brookline, I am proud to connect our communities with people in different languages to get involved and support our town further. The more citizens can be involved in public affairs, the more resources there are for our town.

Endorsed by Brookline for Everyone. Endorsed by the Brookline Equity Coalition Nels Richard Carlson is a science teacher and life-long environmentalist who has always been politically active. With one child at Ruffin Ridley school and another who will enroll in a few years, he loves all things Brookline, especially his neighbors.
As town meeting member I would represent the shared values of our community in Precinct 8 and work to protect and improve upon what makes Brookline special. My goal if elected would be to help create a Brookline that's more inclusive, push for affordable housing, improve the walking/bike-ability, and help support our schools. One of the many great things about Brookline is how easy it is to get to know your neighbors, whether it's walking your dog, going to the store, dropping the kid off at school. Any time I go out it seems like I run into someone, which I love. For those neighbors whom I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting I offer an open invitation to reach out to me and we can chat about all things Brookline and P8.

Born and raised in Kechi, Kansas, I've since embarked on an enriching journey that led me to Brookline, MA, which I've called home for nearly two decades. Moving here was a pivotal moment, marking the start of a new chapter filled with growth, community, and opportunity. Now deeply rooted in Brookline, I am eager to contribute my experiences and passion to serve as a dedicated advocate for our vibrant town.
As a town meeting member for Precinct 8, my primary responsibility is to represent the interests and concerns of my constituents effectively. I will strive to maintain open lines of communication through various channels, including phone, email, one-on-one meetings, and social media platforms. By actively engaging with residents, listening to their feedback, and keeping them informed about relevant issues and decisions, I aim to foster transparency, accessibility, and trust in our local governance.

I moved to Brookline from Pennsylvania early last year, and quickly came to appreciate how much this town has to offer. I have long been active in local Democratic politics, both running for office and helping with other campaigns.

I have been endorsed by Brookline For Everyone, Brookline by Design, Brookline PAX, and Brookline Equity Coalition.

I am retired from a career in software engineering management, and now provide data and technology consulting services to nonprofit organizations. I regularly volunteer with the Brookline Food Pantry, am a board member of Climate Action Brookline, and am also active with Biking Brookline.

I live on Gibbs Street with my wife Linda and our cats, and near our daughter and her family in Newton.
I am running for Town Meeting to help meet Brookline’s goals of providing excellent schools for all, meeting our 2040 goal of zero greenhouse emissions, increasing housing diversity and availability, improving walkability and other non-vehicle transportation, and supporting our thriving business districts.

All of these issues directly affect Precinct 8. I will try to ensure that the precinct’s residents know about them and are aware of how the Town is responding. I believe in open dialog and hearing all points of view, and will work to gather information and perspectives to help determine my vote.

I'm an electrical engineer by training and I've worked for years in climate advocacy and renewable energy. I am a product of a public school system and a lucky recipient of a merit scholarship and grants for college, so I know first hand the opportunity those 2 things have afforded me.

I was one of the founding members of the Brookline Mothers Out Front team. I was on the statewide taskforce that successfully pushed the legislature to increase the amount of renewable energy in the state's electricity mix requirements. As part of my work with Mothers Out Front, I started giving energy efficiency presentations around the state and I organized electrification house tours in Brookline for 2 years. I'm excited for the opportunity to do more.
My responsibility to my precinct is to keep Brookline developing a vibrant and diverse residential and commercial community with a solid fiscal governance and a great pubic school system. I can be found by email, through public forums and around the area while riding my bike.

I’ve lived in Pct. 8 for 28 years. I’m passionate about environmental issues and all issues that affect everyone’s quality of life - affordability, housing, schools, basic services, equity and livability. I’m running for Town Meeting because Brookline is confronting a myriad of critical issues that I’d like to try to help solve by working to find common ground and creative solutions. I’m confident that if we work together in good faith we can rise to the challenges before us.

I’m a board member of Climate Action Brookline and a member of the Mothers Out Front Tree Group, Electrify Brookline and the Open Space Plan Committee. I’m also a board member of The Animal Rescue League of Boston and chair its Governance Committee. Endorsed by PAX.
My responsibility to Pct. 8 will be to make sure that my neighborhood’s voices are reflected in all issues. To accomplish this, whether responding to warrant articles or initiating them, I’ll show up, listen, learn and then act. I’ll stay up to date on town happenings, dig into how they impact both the town at large and our precinct in particular, engage with residents to share my findings and gather perspectives, and then pursue the course of action that best reflects our collective interests. I’ll also try to help residents with individual issues by serving as a liaison to town resources. I will make myself available by phone, email, and in person, and will also reach out periodically via email with relevant updates for those interested.

David Tytell has been a Brookline resident since 2001 and bought his home here in 2009. He is the father of a K-12 graduate of the Brookline Public Schools and has a second child currently at BHS. He is endorsed by Brookline for Everyone.

A former astronomer, he has also earned a science journalism degree, and he currently brings his strong science background and communication experience to healthcare and higher education communication at MIT. He has served on multiple boards including as President of the Caltech Alumni Association, and is currently a Massachusetts Director of the New England Society for Healthcare Communications.
Town Meeting should focus its attention on making Brookline a place where regular people can come, raise a family, and contribute to the vibrancy of our town. Right now, Brookline is becoming the home of the elite — where either you have millions to live here, or you already own property. It’s not fair, and we need to do better and create more opportunities.

I strongly support increasing affordable multi-family housing for lower- and middle-class households. More population, particularly young families, brings more money into our town, keeps Brookline vibrant, and gives others the opportunity to live in this tremendous location.

I also support additional commercial space as our small businesses are among the very best parts of our town.
