Knox County is my home, and I am running to help our community navigate through all the changes it’s facing and ensure that it doesn’t lose the qualities that made it special to begin with as it grows. This isn’t about politics; it’s about public service. I’m running to serve Knox County because who serves us on the local level truly matters for the future of our community.
County Commission’s most important responsibilities are budgeting, land use, and zoning. My degree was in accounting, and I worked in public accounting, so I understand budgeting and financial statements very well. I also have a deep knowledge of real estate through my real estate business and time spent as a member of the Knox County Board of Zoning Appeals. I’ve also served in leadership and board roles in nearly a dozen organizations. I’m ready to come on the job and be effective on day one.
Our biggest tool to address these issues lie in our ability to increase housing supply. We can’t control the thousands of people wanting to call Knox County home. However, we can intelligently plan for what the Knox County of tomorrow looks like. We must be specific about how we grow while still preserving the charm and character of our community.
My goal is to keep Knox County the same Knox County that we all know and love while still proactively responding to the growth demands we are facing. We must look at each part of Knox County on a granular level to determine where each of these competing priorities makes the most sense and enact relevant zoning regulations to facilitate that.

I'm running to represent West Knoxville's District 4 because we need experienced leaders in local office who are willing to rise above our broken politics and focus on the future together. I want Knox County’s future to be more vibrant, united, and sustainable for generations to come, and I'm getting off the sidelines to offer my experience and unifying approach to problem-solving to the people of Knox County. In this moment, we need leaders who will unite our community and refocus our local government on the issues that really matter: strengthening our public schools, investing in parks and green space, improving infrastructure proactively, and building an equitable and strong local economy.
My family has always been about service and community. I took those values to heart as an Eagle Scout and later as a soldier in the Army National Guard. After seven years in the Army, I chose to pursue a career in banking to continue making a positive impact on people's lives in my community. Over the past 20 years, I have gained an immense amount of experience in finance and business -- a perspective I believe we need on County Commission. I also currently volunteer my finance experience as Treasurer of the Knoxville/Knox County Public Building Authority. I want to offer my immense business experience to the people of Knox County and continue my lifelong passion for service in this role.
Housing and homelessness are interconnected issues, and the best way our local government can work to make housing more attainable for all is to increase housing stock at all price points. Knox County must explore zoning policies that incentivize the building of housing that will be affordable to working families and young people who we want to encourage to stay here in Knox County. It's unacceptable that our children may not be able to afford to live in the neighborhoods where they grew up. We also need to address other causes of homelessness, such as mental health and substance abuse. Too many people aren't afforded the help they need, and we must fund needed to investment in treatment programs and supportive housing.
Knox County must develop a comprehensive land use plan that balances the diverse needs of our growing community. I support the prioritization of mixed-use developments and more density along our corridors, where residents would have more walkable infrastructure and transit options. I also think that Knox County should strategically encourage the creation of new housing stock in existing urban areas, reducing the pressure on rural communities and on roads that may not be able to handle additional traffic in their current state. Knox County is going to grow, and it is on us to plan with foresight and ensure housing is affordable and attainable for those who call our community home.
