Please introduce yourself and explain why you are running for City of Kaukauna Alderperson.

What do you think are the top two challenges for the City of Kaukauna and how do you propose to address these as an alderperson?

What role do you believe the city should have in promoting a wide variety of housing options to meet the needs of all citizens? Why do you believe that?

In your opinion, what is the status of Kaukauna as an open and welcoming community that is attractive to a diverse population (color, creed, sexual orientation, immigration status)? What does Kaukauna do well and where can we improve?

Tax rates and tax levies are always important issues for voters. What ideas do you have for balancing quality services and funding them?

As a long time member of the community having raised 2 children and now with 3 grandchildren I have a passion for supporting the growth and continued history of Kaukauna. As an alder I have a responsibility to the tax payers to be fiscally responsible and I believe my actions have shown that passion. We have a strong sense of community and are proud of our parks and green spaces, Kaukauna is a great place to live and raise a family. I am excited about the changes/challenges that our downtown is experiencing and look forward to the continued growth and improvement to this area.
Affordable housing is a challenge not just for Kaukauna but the Fox Cities as a whole. The two challenges around this are finding those willing to provide affordable housing and how to fund that. I hope we as a city can work with those able to build/create affordable housing. I have had business leaders reach out to me, they are having struggles hiring employees as those people cannot fine affordable housing. This will be an ongoing process.
Please see the previous comment. Again affordable housing is a passion. We as city leaders need to make sure our residents have safe, decent and sanitary homes.
I believe Kaukauna has seen a growth in diversity over the last 10 years. We all can make little steps to make others feel welcome. It is human nature to want to be accepted and as a city leader it is my responsibility to listen to all who have concerns. I certainly cannot make others be kind and accepting but I can lead by example.
No one wants to raise taxes. Remember I live here and pay the same rate as do my family and many friends. At the same time we don’t want to cut services. As a growing community we need to make sure we have the resources available to serve the growing population. I believe we have great staff and resources available to keep the tax rates as reasonable as possible yet provide the high quality services our residents expect
