My roots in Boise run deep. My dad tells the story of playing football on State Street because there wasn’t any traffic to interrupt the game. Our city has changed over the decades, but the kind, welcoming spirit that makes Boise special is still here. I’m running for GBAD because I want to help protect that as we guide thoughtful, forward-looking investments in our city’s future.

GBAD collects hotel tax dollars and reinvests them in infrastructure that supports travel, business, and culture in Boise. That’s smart policy—and I want to make sure we keep using those funds in a way that benefits both visitors and the people who live here. This is my home, I’ve spent my career telling Boise’s story, and I care deeply about how we grow.
I’ve spent 15 years in communications, PR, and marketing where I’ve lead campaigns across tourism, agriculture, healthcare, and economic development. I’ve worked with clients like Visit Boise and the Idaho Wine Commission to elevate Idaho as a destination and attract travelers to our region. I also served 8 years on the Downtown Boise Association board, including as president. It provided profound connections to the small businesses, restaurants, retail, culture and community who depend on business from travelers to sustain themselves. With a strong background in destination marketing, media, and community partnerships, I’m ready to bring steady, informed leadership and valuable industry insight to the GBAD board.
We’re at a pivotal point—convention space is full, hotels are in demand, and we have an opportunity to look at amenities that can support our tourism industry and communities for years to come. GBAD is already listening to the community through a feasibility study. I’d like to continue that approach.

I believe tourism and community should work hand in hand—supporting local businesses, creating shared spaces, and preserving what makes Boise special. If elected, I want to ensure that GBAD’s investments continue to strengthen our local economy while enhancing the experience of living in and visiting Boise. That means supporting projects that reflect Boise’s identity, improve quality of life, and set us up for long-term success.
You don’t need to be in the hospitality industry to care about this election because the work GBAD does touches all of us. From trade shows to fundraisers, sports tournaments to business travel, the visitors we welcome help support our local businesses, keep restaurants open, and fund the venues and events that make our city vibrant. My goal is to make sure we continue growing in a way that feels intentional and true to the Boise we all love. I’ll bring a collaborative, steady, and informed perspective to this board—and I’d be honored to earn your vote.

From my first job in downtown Boise in 1995 I have had the desire to be a part of the conversation about the future. From researching the development of GBAD to studying the statues and original intent, I have watched the evolution of the group for decades. Touring the country as a military spouse gave me opportunities to see other cities and experience other styles. There is something special about Boise and I humbly hope to be a part of the process in growing responsibly and with intent.
I have spent the better part of the last 35 years in the hospitality industry as both a sales and operations leader. The majority of my experience has been with Marriott and Hilton with the exception being a total of 8 years at the independently operated Grove Hotel in downtown Boise. Extensive experience in establishing and developing new businesses and newly constructed hotels. Accounting and finance acumen related to hotel tax, developing strategic plans, and executing stakeholders' visions. Sales and operational experience in Boise and similar sized communities specific to convention centers, CVB's, sports commissions, and business development.
If elected, my goals are simple. Be a part of the conversation. For 3 decades the hospitality community has largely been outside of the conversation. In the future, I hope to be a part of the conversation. As an advocate for hoteliers and the hospitality community,
I have long been passionate about tourism… which means embracing the beauty, diversity, and culture of the world. It's about more than just traveling—it's about experiencing new perspectives, forging meaningful connections, and appreciating the rich histories that shape different places. Passion for tourism also means supporting sustainable practices that preserve landscapes, respect local communities, and promote responsible travel. It's the joy of discovery, the thrill of stepping outside comfort zones, and the endless opportunities to learn from the world’s stories.
I first ran for the Greater Boise Auditorium District board in 2013, and since then, I’ve been dedicated to serving Boise. After years of leadership in the fire service, I understand the power of collaboration to move our community forward. Now, as I run for re-election, I want to continue ensuring Boise’s growth through strategic investments in meeting space infrastructure, arts and cultural offerings, and sports complexes. These initiatives will not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also attract visitors, driving both economic growth and community development.
My 12 years of service on the Greater Boise Auditorium District board have provided me with invaluable institutional knowledge and the experience needed to navigate complex challenges. As chair, I led the Boise Centre East expansion, a project that required collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and overcoming significant hurdles, including an Idaho Supreme Court challenge. Additionally, I was part of the board when we built the ICCU Aquatics Center, another major milestone for the District. My ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and manage large-scale projects has been key to my success, and I’m ready to continue serving the community in this role.
If elected, my primary goal is to leverage our current cash and bonding authority to build great projects that benefit both the community and regional tourism. We have a unique opportunity to make strategic investments in infrastructure that will not only support economic growth but also enhance the quality of life for Boise residents. By prioritizing projects that attract visitors and strengthen local amenities—like meeting spaces, arts and cultural venues, and sports complexes—we can create lasting impact for our city. I am committed to making the most of these resources to ensure we achieve meaningful results.
I’m an Idaho native, born in the Treasure Valley, and a proud Boise State football alum with a degree in Finance. In 2006, my wife Monica and I restored the historic Beck House, earning Preservation Idaho’s Orchid Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. Community service has always been central to who I am—I've volunteered for Camp Rainbow Gold and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, among others. Monica and I are proud that both of our daughters, after leaving for college, have returned to the Treasure Valley and are continuing our family tradition of community involvement. Their commitment to giving back is one of our proudest legacies.
