VOTE411 Voter Guide

Education, health care and quality jobs are three areas that I have a great passion to support. Each of these issues have a major impact on the public good. As a retired public school teacher and administrator I have first hand experience that will assist me in supporting public schools to ensure we are doing all we can do to prepare all of our students to become productive citizens in our state. I believe everyone should have access to affordable health care, which includes a woman's right to reproductive health care, including abortions. Missouri has been losing medical students, doctors and hospitals under the current Legislature due to extreme restrictions they have placed on several health care issues. I was raised in a home by a Ford Claycomo assembly plant line worker, UAW Local 249. I saw first hand the many benefits a strong union provides while working as well as during retirement.

Education will be my top legislative priority. After twenty plus years of controlling most of the state government, the republican party refuses to accept responsibility for the difficulties our schools are facing. There is a dramatic teacher shortage throughout the nation and in Missouri. Finding ways to support quality teacher candidates and train them are critical to help meet this challenge. The positive impact a highly qualified teacher can have on students is well documented as the most important variable in a students academic success. Getting the best teachers to teach in our state should is an urgent call to action.
