I am a graduate from Baylor Law School and practicing attorney since 2012. I am a former prosecutor and currently work in private practice in both criminal, civil, and juvenile matters. I participate in ongoing legal education programs and lobby at the legislature regarding laws related to the areas of law this court oversees. I am a certified guardian and a guardianship attorney.
Modernizing the court scheduling process and maximizing the time available to have cases heard before the court.
As a trial court, listening is key. Decisions must be made based on the facts presented. The court must make sure the evidence is authentic and reliable. In short: The most important responsibility is evidentiary safeguarding.
I have been on the job for 8 years now; having served as Judge of Hays County Court at Law #2 for two terms. Prior to that I was a prosecutor in Hays and Collin Counties for nearly two decades. I worked much of that in Hays County Courts at Law.
The time is now to enhance our Juvenile Justice System. We need to bring physical improvements to the Juvenile Detention Facility. We need to establish a more robust Magistration/Juvenile Master system to address rapidly growing demand for Judicial resources by the Juvenile Justice System. Also it is critical that Veterans Court be brought into the County’s overall operating budget to protect the Court from fluctuations in State funding which are inevitable in any grant funded operation.
Safeguarding the liberty and rights of those accused by the State of crimes, while simultaneously protecting the rights and safety of victims of crime. This ideal of justice can only be achieved by a judge who is fair and who is seen to be impartial.
