In my tenure as a Maryland legislator, I've passed nearly two dozen significant bills, focusing on environmental protection, educational support, and reducing prescription drug prices. I am also actively working to reduce emergency wait times. My efforts highlight my commitment to meeting urgent community needs and improving lives. This background equips me to effectively represent Maryland's 2nd district in Congress, emphasizing forward-thinking policies and attentive constituent services.
To safeguard voting rights and election integrity, it is imperative to counter restrictive legislation and misinformation from unreliable sources. Strengthening our education system is crucial; we must teach our youth and public to critically evaluate information and understand their rights, ensuring they are informed, vigilant citizens. This comprehensive approach will protect democracy and promote fair, transparent elections.
My approach to tackling climate change and pollution involves drafting and passing legislation endorsed by leading environmental organizations, such as the Sierra Club and LCV. A key achievement in my legislative career was the passage of Maryland’s Climate Solutions Now Act. I am committed to promoting clean energy, investing in climate-smart solutions, and protecting our public lands from further damage.
I propose comprehensive immigration reform focused on fairness and humanity. This includes clear citizenship pathways for Dreamers, reforming visa programs to protect workers, and streamlining asylum processes. Balancing enhanced border security with respect for human dignity and international obligations is crucial. These changes will uphold America's legacy as a beacon of hope and opportunity for all.
Following the tragic losses in our community, I've pushed for vital reforms. I firmly advocate for comprehensive national gun safety reforms. My approach includes stringent background checks, promoting responsible gun ownership, and implementing conflict resolution education in schools. These measures aim to build safer communities and prevent future tragedies. My dedication to this issue is deeply personal, fueled by a commitment to safeguard our youth and honor the lost lives.

I am an award-winning teacher, artist, and community builder; that’s what we need in Washington, DC. As a 3-time Fulbright international scholar, Having a global perspective, I am skilled at examining local, global, and intercultural issues. I believe in celebrating every person’s humanity. I always look for solutions to take action. As a union rep, I know how to advocate for my colleagues and work for the collective good.
Everyone needs to be at the table; it should not be difficult to vote. Election day should be a holiday; we need to support early and mail-in voting. Polling places should be increased, not shut down. We need to make it as accessible as possible. We also need to make accountability part of our democracy; the people who participated in January 6 should be prosecuted and be held accountable and we should not be afraid because of the power that they hold.
Sustainability needs to be a call to action. Maryland is beautiful and we have to preserve it. We need to have better educational programs for children and adults. I support green incentives (bottle bills for money). We need to invest in sustainable development; green space, green energy, and greener buildings. Developers need to work with communities in order to create more socially and environmentally friendly spaces. Sustainability needs to be part of our everyday vocabulary.
We are a nation of immigrants; we need to acknowledge that. We all have to work together to make sure that we create a clear pathway to citizenship. People coming to America want to build a new life, work, and give a better future to their children. People need to be given the support to succeed in America such as language and job training, education, and health care. We cannot ignore that immigrants are often the backbone of our economy and add dimensionality to our culture.
If I don’t go to another funeral because one student fired a gun at another, that would be amazing. Let’s make it harder for those people who want to kill to get a gun. I don’t have a problem with people having guns, I have a problem with their use. Americans have a right to bear arms; however, it should be more difficult to get a gun. You need three recommendations to get a job; how about the same to arm yourself? In Congress, I will ban semi-automatic weapons and strengthen gun safety training

I have dedicated my life to serving our communities, whether as a public school teacher, a state delegate, or as Baltimore County Executive. With so much dysfunction in Washington, we need a new generation of leaders who can deliver for our communities by fighting for working families, defending our democracy, protecting abortion access, and restoring transparency and accountability in our government. I’m proud to have a strong track record of delivering on these issues and more.
As a former public school civics teacher, I understand both how important and how fragile our democracy truly is. In Congress, I will be a strong advocate for federal legislation to expand voting access, including automatic voter registration, early voting, and mail-in ballots. I know that it is critical we also invest in election security measures like paper ballots and cybersecurity upgrades to safeguard against election interference.
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges that we face, and addressing it requires both bold and urgent action. I support transitioning to renewable energy, investing in green infrastructure, and implementing strict regulations on polluting industries. I believe that we can both protect our environment and create family-sustaining jobs by growing our green economy.
Our system is broken, and Washington is failing us. Rather than working together to get the job done, we see members of Congress playing politics with the issue instead. It’s holding back both our communities and our economy.

We need to pass comprehensive immigration reform that protects DREAMers who came to America as children, extends a pathway to citizenship for those who have paid their taxes and helped build a better Maryland, and secures our border in a responsible and effective manner.
Too many of our children live in fear in their own schools and too many communities have been torn apart by gun violence. I support common sense gun safety legislation, including universal background checks, closing loopholes in the background check system, and implementing red flag laws.

The United States government should make sure that all fifty states have the same type of voting machines and system, to make sure that all election judges are trained before each primary and general election, to have all the necessary voting equipment and materials ready to go before the polling stations open, and to have everything secure at the end of the night. Plus for everyone to be able to show their drivers license or passport before voting. To be able to have a traveling security guard.
I personally would work with the local fisherman of the Chesapeake Bay to get a better understanding on the pollution issues. I would also work with the Sierra Club of Maryland the Chesapeake Bay Foundation too. My kids and their friends have an eco-club in our community. They clean the streets, clean the Patapsco State Park woods border, clean bike trails. We recycle what we can and anything useful we create purses or crafts, sell them, and donate back.
I would firstly help those undocumented immigrants that came before those that came across our borders. Because the significant other cannot complete the application their U.S. born child has the right to help but they have to be 21. Which in my opinion it should be lowered to 16 because too many homes are being broken up and it hurts me.
I feel that guns should not be in the hands of criminals, incoherent individuals, and children/teenagers. I feel there should be an age requirement for a purchase. Every gun should have a lock blox requirement in order to purchase. If there are signs of issues the person should get psychological help and treatment. The police should be more aware of those that have been called due to psychological distress or mental health issues. All patrons that legally own the firearms should be responsible.

my experience as a licensed insurance agent of 30 years being involved in community events and helping citizens with their needs of protection of property and assets. which gives me experience of what citizens needs are for themselves and their families.
we have to be first be honest of the actual problem, their is a cancer in the The house and and senate that needs to be removed to protect our democracy. and that cancer must be removed to protect our democracy for now and future generations.
The problem with Climate change and pollution is Ignorance, we have to continue to move forward with green jobs, electric cars and do way corporate plants that continue to pollute our oceans, rivers and lakes with poisonous waste and chemicals that are causing a dangerous shift in our climate.
Path to citizenship, I have proposal of how not only to help the immigration problem but to lower the poverty percentage and increase the middle class not only for immigrants, but for disenfranchised citizens, homeless, former incarcerated and low income citizens. a 10 to 14 week training Program to prepare them for blue collar certification jobs to give them not only a job but a profession and they key to make them productive citizens and not dependents of society.
it does not take a college professor to know guns kill people and automatic weapons not only kill but destroy the lives of the living. I am for a law banning all military automatic weapons to citizens and background checks to all who apply for gun ownership. and those who apply must have at least a 3 to 6 week waiting period until background checks have cleared.
