The U.S. House of Representatives makes and passes federal laws. The House is one of Congress’s two chambers (the other is the U.S. Senate), and part of the federal government’s legislative branch. The number of voting representatives in the House is fixed by law at no more than 435, proportionally representing the population of the 50 states. Indiana has 9 Representative. The Representative for District 6 serves the counties of Henry, Wayne, Randolph, Shelby, Hancock, Fayette, Union, Rush, Bartholomew, Johnson, southern townships in MarionFollowing are congressional responsibilities: 1) Making laws; 2) Raising revenue, authorizing & appropriating federal funds, and managing the federal debt; 3) Providing for the common defense and the general welfare; 4) Regulating commerce among the states and with foreign nations; 5) Declaring war and maintaining and regulating the military; and Impeaching federal officers.
