Experience and qualifications I am an ordinary 7th generation Hoosier, a small business person, a former teacher, and a scientist. I believe that Hoosiers deserve better representation in Washington D.C. While teaching high school science, I earned a fellowship to Washington D.C. to gain experience with policy and how it shapes our lives. I served on Capitol Hill and am bringing back the policy knowledge and experience I gained to put into action in Indiana. I have built knowledge in science, business, and education policy to complement my experiences as a biologist, anthropologist, classroom teacher, and small-business person. This gives me a foundation on which to build good policy and put Hoosier lives back as a priority.

We must implement comprehensive 21st Century immigration reform policies which allow for us to welcome persons of all faiths, economic statuses, and backgrounds to our country. We need to responsibly manage our borders, keep families together, and safeguard human rights during the immigration process. We must also provide undocumented persons, Dreamers, Temporary Protective Status recipients, and essential workers, who have spent much of their lives in this country a valid path to citizenship. I support the bipartisan work done on HR 3194, The U.S. Citizenship Act.

I support a patient’s right to make healthcare decisions, including reproductive decisions, with their physician or health care provider without interference from the State or Federal Government. Roe V. Wade must be codified & a statutory right added for healthcare providers to provide abortion services to their patients without any restrictions. Abortion is healthcare. Reproductive rights are human rights.

The people of Ukraine depend on economic, military, and humanitarian assistance from the U.S. to maintain their sovereignty and independence from the invasion by Russia. The U.S. must set a strong example of support for our Allies across the globe and remain a model for peace and security. It is likely that the outcome of the war in Ukraine will determine the course of global security this century and our decisions in the U.S. critically affect this.

Most Americans support responsible gun ownership for law-abiding citizens who respect gun violence reform. I support common-sense reforms to prevent gun violence, keep dangerous weapons of war off our streets, restricting firearms for domestic abusers, and improving background checks. I support a federal gun buy-back system for those owning firearms to be compensated from new prohibitions as well as banning the manufacture, sale, and possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, and high-capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. As a person who grew up shooting hunting rifles with my brother and grandfather, I understand the 2nd Amendment and take it seriously. As a former teacher, I know the need for working for solut

I do NOT support raising the eligibility age for either Medicare or Social Security. All Americans have the right to a secure and healthy retirement, and I will continue fighting to preserve both Medicare and Social Security for future generations.
