I am a mother of four children. I am stepping into the fight in order to help keep our local children and families at home with us. It is near impossible with the way our state is being currently run. My husband worked FIVE jobs before Covid, and we still weren't able to purchase a home, on an island that he was born and raised. Local families need help, and we need it now. Our children and Kupuna alike deserve to live comfortably. Not only are they not able to do so due to unaffordable housing, but we now have to fear walking down the street in many areas. Crime is rising, education is failing and living is impossible. I would be honored to run alongside others ready to make a change.
We need checks and balances, we need transparency and we need honest and open communication in all areas of our state. Especially those at the top. Stopping corruption would start there for me. Where is money going? Who is getting paid, and most importantly why are our elected officials untouchable and not transparent? Corruption has become normal and as a State Legislator I would finish discovering what is already falling apart as we speak.
I would like to propose a bill that would actually make solar water heating, PV panels more accessible to all.
I believe the response to Covid-19 could have been handled a lot better after the first few months. Being a national pandemic, I'm careful not to judge how anyone in our state handled it, since it was new to everyone. But after the first lockdown, I believe there should have been a lot more communication and protection for our community, parents and business owners. I watched and am still watching as people are not being heard, and are being severely affected/hurt by things that can be handled much better. We have taken a devastating blow to not only our economy but to our mental health, homeless crisis and especially education and all that implies.
