Kayden Bennett is a husband, father, U.S. Army veteran, small farmer, and community advocate running for the Kansas House of Representatives to bring everyday voices back to government. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kayden moved to Kansas in 2015 and proudly calls Derby home. His life has been shaped by service, resilience, and a belief that every person deserves to be heard and treated with dignity. Kayden and his family live at Swift Rain Farmstead, where they are building a regenerative farmstead and orchard. Their farm reflects their commitment to conservation, sustainable agriculture, responsible stewardship of the land, and leaving the world better than they found it. As a candidate for the Kansas House, Kayden is focused on practical solutions rather than partisan politics. His priorities include fully funding public education, supporting teachers and students, lowering the property tax burden on homeowners, protecting access to healthcare, strengthening local communities, supporting veterans, safeguarding individual rights, and ensuring government works for everyday Kansans—not just those with the loudest voices or the deepest pockets.

My greatest qualification is my ability to connect with people. I’ve never met a stranger, and I genuinely enjoy listening to people from every background, neighborhood, and political party. My family and closest friends are organically diverse, giving me perspectives that can’t be learned from a textbook. Throughout this campaign, I’ve spent countless hours listening to Republicans, Democrats, Independents, veterans, teachers, parents, seniors, and young people because everyone deserves to be heard. Leadership begins with listening, and I believe the best solutions come from bringing people together; not dividing them
Kansas’s three most important issues are public education, affordability, and access to healthcare. We must fully fund public education, including special education, so every child has the opportunity to succeed while reducing the pressure on local property taxes. We need to make Kansas more affordable by lowering the property tax burden, supporting working families, and investing in infrastructure and economic opportunity. Finally, we must improve access to healthcare by strengthening rural healthcare, expanding access to providers, supporting mental health services, and ensuring families can receive the care they need close to home. My approach is to listen to Kansans, work across party lines, and pursue practical, evidence based solution
Kansans deserve a legislative process that is transparent and easy to follow. I support improving the Legislature’s website with plain-language bill summaries, timely updates when bills are amended or scheduled for hearings, and optional email or text alerts so citizens can track issues they care about. I also believe the “Gut and Go” process should be used only in rare circumstances. Replacing the contents of a bill at the last minute reduces transparency and limits meaningful public input. Major policy changes deserve public notice, committee review, and adequate time for legislators and Kansans to read and understand them before a vote.
I support making voting accessible, secure, and convenient for every eligible Kansan. Every voter should have the opportunity to cast a ballot by mail, at an advance voting location, or in person on Election Day. I do not support unnecessary barriers that make it harder for eligible citizens to vote without improving election security. Kansas already has safeguards in place, and any changes to election laws should expand access, strengthen public confidence, and protect every eligible citizen’s right to vote.
