Personal Biography
Pete is a lifelong rancher, conservationist, and community leader from Beaumont, Kansas. A fourth-generation steward of the Ferrell Ranch, founded by his great-grandfather in 1888, Pete has spent his career blending practical ranching experience with a passion for sustainable agriculture and rural economic development.

My family has lived and worked in what is now District 12 since 1888. I bring to this position an intimate knowledge of what it takes to live here. I have operated a ranching business here my entire adult life. I am comfortable working with people of all political persuasions. I did this when I served on the community college board. If you want to reach across the aisle, you have to sit next to it.
(1) Property Taxes. Rural people, especially farmers and ranchers, are shouldering a heavy tax burden. We have got to find another way. (2) Schools. We need to fully fund public schools including special education programs. (3) Health Care. We need to expand Medicaid before we lose any more rural hospitals. Sadly, Kansas has the highest number of hospitals in danger of closing compared to any other state. This is a deadly situation for rural residents.
The state should upgrade its digital tracking infrastructure and mandate committee hearings for all major text changes. I would vote to eliminate the "Gut & Go" process. I would require every committee to record and publish member votes online immediately, instead of hiding voice votes or unrecorded tallies.
