As a mother of two young daughters about to enter our school system, and the wife of a Marine veteran turned teacher, I am running for the school board to champion an educational environment that embodies excellence for every child in Crowley ISD. My extensive background in educational leadership and advocacy, coupled with my deep personal investment in our community's future, drives my commitment to ensuring our schools serve as foundations for success. Together, we can shape a district where every student, including my own children, has the opportunity to thrive.
Balancing parental concerns with students' needs involves active listening and transparency. I'll facilitate open dialogues, ensuring all voices are heard. Inclusive education benefits everyone, preparing students for a diverse world. We'll develop policies that reflect our community's values and uphold educational excellence, ensuring a curriculum that is accurate, comprehensive, and inclusive, respecting both parental input and student success.
Recognizing the value of direct, grassroots engagement, I commit to facilitating regular interactions beyond board meetings, ensuring families can easily engage with board members. This grassroots approach ensures continuous, open communication, meeting stakeholders where they are and reinforcing our commitment to an inclusive, engaged school community. I will also champion a review and enhancement of our ethics rules to uphold the highest standards of accountability and integrity.
As the wife of a teacher, I understand firsthand the challenges teachers face. I aim to prioritize the needs and well-being of our educators and students to create an environment where they feel valued, respected, and motivated to stay within our district. I support implementing surveys and interviews for insights, professional development for staff, enhancing student support services, and focusing on recruitment & retention efforts to create a positive environment for all.
The most critical issue is our school district's financial deficit. The deficit impacts the district's ability to recruit and retain talented teachers and staff, provide essential resources and materials for classrooms, and fund programs to prepare students for their future after high school. To address it, we'll conduct a thorough budget analysis, prioritize spending aligned with student needs, enhance revenue streams through partnerships and grants, implement efficiency measures, and engage stakeholders transparently. This strategy ensures stability and fosters long-term growth.

I am running for reelection to the Crowley ISD school board because of my passion for public education, my commitment to servant leadership, and my uncompromising belief that every student deserves a high-quality educational experience. As the incumbent, I am familiar with the duties, responsibilities, and challenges associated with board service, and I’ve relied upon my diverse experiences as a public school educator, small business owner, community volunteer, zoning commissioner, parent, and wife to realize Crowley ISD’s goal of becoming a system of great schools.
In CISD we #ActLikeAFamily and #WorkLikeATeam. This means involving parents in decision-making and providing them with opportunities to voice their concerns through community forums, surveys, PTA/PTO, and strategic communication initiatives. Additionally, I will solicit student voice and prioritize students' needs and rights to ensure our curriculum is dynamic, accessible, and reflective of our students' interests and identities. This also includes implementing policies that promote DEI.
Community leaders often err by determining constituents’ wants or needs without engaging them. To avoid such misalignment, CISD regularly hosts virtual and in-person community discussions and utilizes surveys to inform and hear from our stakeholders. Being accessible and accountable is vital, and I am committed to being transparent. This includes availing myself by email and phone, as well as sharing information about key issues, decisions, and policies in multiple languages across varied media.
Unlike many local districts, Crowley ISD is growing and our students are achieving. Unfortunately, teacher turnover remains a challenge nationwide. Research suggests implementing strategies like mentorship and recognition programs, offering competitive compensation, and fostering supportive work environments can curtail attrition. As a veteran educator and trustee, I am committed to working with teachers, administrators and membership associations to make CISD a destination district for all.
Student achievement and experience: I am committed to providing excellence in education for all students by providing a safe, positive, and inclusive educational atmosphere in which all students can learn and thrive. Financial Stewardship: I will continue sourcing and allocating resources in the best interest of students, as well as offer competitive employee pay while balancing taxpayers’ and stakeholders’ interests. Community Engagement: I will continue to engage local businesses, the faith-based community, nonprofit sector, and local officials to form alliances to enhance Crowley ISD.
