Morrisville needs a new direction; a common-sense direction.
We've got an awesome river-front location that should be attractive to NY, Princeton, Philadelphia commuters, but it's not. We've got Williamson Park, with it's baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, and grassy areas, but it's basically been ignored since the 3rd hurricane of 2005 popped the swimming pool out of the ground. We've got a strong history that goes back to Robert Morris ("America's First Capitalist") helping finance the American Revolution - yet today all Morrisville is known for are cigarette shops.
These aren't Republican vs Democratic issues; these are small-town issues we need to solve together - in addition to my fellow Democratic votes, I ask for your write-in votes in the up-coming May 18 Primary election.
The "Same old- Same old" method of governing has Morrisville stuck in neutral; we need to do better, and that's why I'm running to be your Councilperson from the 3rd Ward.
* We need to revamp the zoning codes so cigarette shops and hookah bars are properly regulated.
* We need to make the zoning codes current.
* While we need economic development, we don't need to destroy Williamson Park for a project with dubious demographics, unknown financing, and deliberately-obscured participants who refuse to provide any details. Before the project is approved, we need to know if we need more Police, Fire, School, water & sewage capabilities- yet they demand a huge tax abatement from us before we know Morrisville's costs & exposure. And there's still the wetlands - flooding issue to be discussed!
*We need to update the decades-old Comprehensive Plan and ensure Morrisville's schools and educational facilities are included in it.
*We need economic development working to attract businesses that pay a living wage for full-time employment instead of part-time retail jobs selling cigarettes, or items priced at a dollar.
Those are my priorities; what are yours?
