As a lifelong resident of Rives Township, I will diligently strive to see Rives Township's finances remain in order. I spent my formative years in Rives Township. After attaining a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University, I pursued a Juris Doctorate from Cooley Law School. I returned to my hometown, as I could think of no better place to raise my son, Mason. I have maintained the finances of various businesses and will use that experiences to assure the Township of Rives is financially secure.
Given the current circumstances we face the challenge of hosting in person meetings to keep the residents of Rives informed. With the help of technology and a transparent board, Rives residents will stay informed even if they are not able to attend meetings.
As our community faces economical challenges, it is important that we aid one another. We can do this by utilizing the resources we have and those that are available.
Diversity is everywhere. Embracing the diversity of others will promote social and racial justice within our community. We will remain stronger united as one.
The most pressing issues with the police and fire departments in Rives Township is lack of resources and manpower. By working with other neighboring communities, we can overcome this obstacle.

I've been a Rives Township resident for most of my life, having grown up here and attending Northwest Community schools before graduating 50 years ago., I moved south for a period of time & successfully pursued a career in law enforcement for 13.5 years as well as investing in real estate before returning to Rives & settling down to build my own dream home. These experiences have helped me to deal with people on a near daily basis & to learn how to address and make the sometimes difficult decisions necessary to achieve the goals I've set for myself. My main reason for running for public office is to fill a need that transpired primarily over these past 2.5+ years, which emerged because the current township boards; elected & appointed, have been working at cross purposes to the will of the people, which is to Keep Rives Rural, & have instead, extended an invitation to NOVI ENERGY, offering them an opportunity to institute a power plant generating facility within Rives Township.
. During this long drawn out battle, I have continued to ask the hard questions and found that the current administration was either short on answers, or refused to provide any answers at all. The Township, after spending literally thousands of dollars in taxpayer money to hire both attorney's and advisory experts for guidance in implementing a rock solid industrial zoning ordinance that would prevent any company, like Novi Energy from ever being able to construct and establish facilities in Rives township, has instead worked to delay, to defer, to distract and finally, to eliminate the very set of guidelines that the hired advisory company had recommended and suggested we keep. Why go thru the motions of wasting everyone's time and energy, if the intent was only to defraud and deceive the people? One almost gets the impression, that they are working instead, on NOVI's behalf and fully intend to give them the go-ahead shortly. We are just one meeting away from it happening.
We are in much worse shape now, as far as being able to prevent a power plant company from coming in, than when we were first beginning this battle. The monthly Board meetings (when they have them) only allow a limited time of 3 minutes per person for public comments and therefore those periods of speaking and presenting multiple letters, charts, graphs and numerous F.O.I.A.'s (Freedom of Information Act) facts, has done nothing other than to make me profoundly aware of how deep this pervasiveness goes. The only way to effectively change it, is to start afresh and to establish a completely new township board membership.
I strongly support the objectives set forth for KEEPING RIVES RURAL, by opposing favoritism, corruption and nepotism and will demand and support complete transparency in BOTH elected and appointed township boards. I hereby affirm that I will both listen and actually hear my constituents’ concerns; being impartial and ethical, and will diligently use my efforts to identify and address the various challenges that this community will certainly be facing in the days and years ahead of us.
(See above responses).
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 1984 with a Bachelor Degree, with an emphasis in Business and Pre-Med. I put myself through college with loans, grants and hard work! I have run my own company since 1996 and have learned how to problem solve virtually any scenario. I have also learned how to get along with all types of people and personalities to accomplish many things. I am a son of legal immigrant parents and was raised with a pride for our Country and Flag as this is the greatest country in the world! I was raised with a great work ethic and know how to solve problems using common sense! I am a "no nonsense individual" who says it like it is, and doesn't sugar coat things to please people at the moment!

I think the most important challenge currently facing us locally is placed upon us by the US Government and mass media. The social discord and Covid-19 pandemic that closed the local economy down for 3 months! We MUST open up safely without fear, while practicing safe guidelines put forward by the CDC. These are unprecedented times we are living in, however, we WILL regain the normalcy that we once had in due time with great leadership!
I believe that our community is meeting the needs of the economically challenged but can always do more. I will pay closer attention to those in need and assess them as I learn more.
I will treat people the way I would want to be treated, with respect! When people are treated with respect they appreciate it and respond accordingly.
The most pressing issues currently for "OUR POLICE & FIRE" departments is public perception. They are currently being denigrated for the <1% that have caused wrongs. They need to address this situation by having public discussions and or surveys. In general, they are "OUR GREATEST ASSETS" and need to be heralded for the great work they do while assisting them to be better!
