I am a huge proponent of transparency and focusing on the issues. Unfortunately, in Indiana currently, our legislative body tends to focus on distractions, partisan politics and extremist policies. I think the biggest challenge we are facing is breaking up the supermajority we have in the legislative body to create a more balanced government that will better reflect the voices of the people. I believe once we have more balance, we will have more accountability and a better working government.
I am in favor of term limits. I believe in having fresh voices in government so that we are constantly cultivating new ideas and ways we can better make our government work for our people. I have a servant's heart and whole heartedly believe this position is one of service to my constituents.
I live social and racial justice everyday. I believe in listening to oppressed groups and taking them at their word. We have to find ways in which to improve our community so that everyone is heard and we have an equitable climate for all.
5. Indiana has some of the worst water in the country and we have to legislate change in order to have a safe environment for all.
I am a huge supporter of small business and local business. I believe in providing them with the best support for a thriving business. I believe in keeping taxes low for the middle class and providing families with the support they need to thrive.
5. My career is in healthcare and I fully believe in access for all to healthcare. We need to ensure that the most vulnerable among us have access to all the support they need in order to thrive in Indiana.
As a healthcare professional, I support all access to women's healthcare. I believe a woman and her doctor should be the ones making decisions when it comes to healthcare. I do not believe it is a politician's place to regulate that.
5. I strongly believe in and support education. I do not that we are where we need to be in Indiana for education. I do not think our teachers have enough support and our families have enough support for early education. We have a lot of work to do, and I'm fully committed to getting it done.
We have pretty strict voting laws in Indiana and I would like to see us accommodate working, elderly and immobile voters in a better way than we currently do.
Absolutely. Gun violence is the number one cause of death in both the nation and in Indiana. We can and should do more to address this. I have co-authored and supported bills to address this. I'm happy to report one of the bills I co-authored passed, but unfortunately, most have died before ever getting a hearing due to our supermajority.
