My top priorities are affordable housing, climate change action and minimizing our environmental impacts, preserving a pedestrian and bike-friendly community, and Town fiscal and financial responsibility.
I think we as a community care about the right things. We do that well. But sometimes we take a bit too much time to study issues, make decisions, and take action. I’d like to see some long-standing matters, for example, the bike path to CB South, get finalized. That said, I have a great appreciation for the public process - discussion, input and debate. That takes time. AND… governments aren’t typically the most efficient of entities. However, I think we can and should - always, really - expect more of ourselves. (Maybe this is more a commentary on me than Crested Butte!)
I have a long history with the town – I’m a former CB town attorney, as well as for other municipalities on the Western Slope, so I know the mechanics and ins and outs of town government, and I’m used to dealing with complex issues. I don’t have all of the answers, for sure, but I know the right questions to ask, and the right people to ask them of. And I listen. I am a former BOZAR member, twice (I’m a glutton for punishment). I was on the Board of the Center for the Arts for ten years, when it was a very different place, and I currently serve on the Town Council. I want to put my skills, experience and long history with the Town to use in this crux time. I love our Town, our lifestyle, and our community.
I think we should continue to have joint meetings with other jurisdictions. Communication and dialogue are key. We are one valley, and we should address our shared concerns together.
