1. Prevent the union-controlled board members from terminating Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Adams. 2. Improve third-grade reading scores. 3. Improve the skills of our graduates. 4. Improve health education.
I've been on the board for 4 terms of a total of 16 years over the last 20 years, and have extensive experience with the district, including 5 years substituting in the district. I'm very educated, and I've been a teacher myself at the college, and primary and secondary levels. No one controls me, especially the union. I've had many good ideas over my years on the board.

My big three priorities are to commit to quality, financial intelligence and increased advocacy. We need every school in SLPS to provide a high quality educational experience. Financially, we need to fund schools equitably and be more intelligent about our contracts. Finally, we need to value and empower the voices of the families, teachers and students of SLPS.
I began my career teaching math within SLPS. I've spent the last five years creating curriculum and directing programs at a nonprofit serving students of SLPS and students citywide with phenomenal results. I have my master's degree in secondary education and curriculum development from UMSL. I've dedicated my professional career to education in the St. Louis region.

The questions I ask myself when considering the success of St. Louis Public Schools are: "Do our kids feel like they're walking into a second home when they come to school?" "Are we coming up with creative solutions to age-old obstacles that prevent children from getting to school?" "Are our educational decisions informed by data?"
My job is primarily parent-facing and allows me to hear the hopes, concerns and obstacles parents face daily in ensuring for their children's choice-filled lives. I've spent my career in schools, which I think gives me an insight into the exciting possibilities for St. Louis Public School system.

Innovative approaches for improving neighborhood schools; Increased home-school connection; Improve community partnerships; Nurse/Social Worker in every school; Competitive teacher salaries; Decrease student/teacher ratio at all grade levels; Evaluate and modify school start times; Modernize buildings/Integrate technology/Increase utilization of buildings.
I'm deeply invested in SLPS as both an alum and father to 11 children. In the military, I was tasked to find efficiencies and cost savings without negatively impacting personnel. I've served on SLPS committees to select new principals, improve communication and evaluate school start times. I was also a parent rep on the SAB task force for future SLPS governance.

I have one priority: give all students an excellent education. This will mean advancing financial transparency and accountability; providing support for teachers via fair pay, diverse PD, quality resources, and more voice in their schools and classrooms; and investing in students via support staff, superior and democratic curricula and pedagogy, and community engagement.
Education is my passion. As a former SLPS teacher and godmother of an SLPS student, my experiences with the bureaucracy that stands in the way of schools, teachers and families doing what’s best for students is what inspired me to run. I have an MEd and am finishing my Ph.D. in Ed policy; I've taught or managed academics in 5 districts across the US;and I'm in ed for life.
