Riverview Fire Protection District - Proposition A
Simple Majority RequiredBallot Wording: Shall the Board of Directors of the Riverview Fire Protection District be authorized to levy an additional tax of not more than forty cents per one hundred dollars assessed valuation to provide funds for the support of an ambulance service or partial or complete support of an emergency medical technician defibrillator program or partial or complete support of an emergency medical technician paramedic first responder program?Summary: The District wants to increase the property tax levy by $.40 per $100 of assessed valuation. Currently the three pumpers used do not have Advanced Life Support capability. If passed, the owner of a $75,000 house would pay an additional $57.00 annually. Most calls are EMS calls and trained EMS staff and adequate equipment is a necessity. The Christian Hospital ambulance service is at full capacity and Riverview District must be equipped to meet the demand. Supporters say that district personnel have consulted government officials and citizens who say that ALS capability is the top priority. There is no public opposition.
