Issue 47 on the ballot.Ballot language: A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the City of Strongsville for the purpose of payment for firefighters’ salaries and operating expenses for the satellite station at Priem and Albion Roads at a rate not exceeding 1.5 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to 15 cents for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five years, commencing in 2018, first due in calendar year 2019.A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage.LEAGUE EXPLANATION: This is a renewal, for another five years, of a levy first approved in 1984. The 1.5 mill levy is the only source of wages for firefighters and helps pay for operations at the fire station.The cost to the owner of a $200,000 home is $89.35 per year.
