Experience (300 characters max) Background in planning and program management (both public and private sector) - many years of community involvement, appointments to boards, commissions and groups working at all levels (city, county and state) for the common good. Lifelong love affair with parks + the quality of life they provide.
I'm a Bernie Sanders person and am answering his call for a more active involvement in my community's political life. Age and energy level prohibit me from taking on a more active, higher profile run for political office but can find the time and energy for this particular opening in supporting my community - and I've always loved parks and understand the important part they play in our quality of life.
Need for greater and more consistent funding; cost of maintenance and upkeep exceeds funding availability; need for a greater participation in "all" of East County Parks & Recreation rather than just the Maltby park portion of the County.
Funding, of course. Isn't it always the most urgent?
Many years in planning and program management - kinds of jobs, in both the public and private sectors; years of community activism, political involvement, and advocacy for good causes in our region. I grew up in St. Louis, a city of parks, and have a lifetime love affair in my heart for parks and what they mean to we human beings as far as our quality of life - they need a higher priority for funding in govt. budgets but also better support from the communities they serve - I'll work to make both of those things happen - count on it!! :-) logo
