Worked for People For People in Ellensburg as a WorkSource Lead for ten years. Owned my own business for 7 Years in Kittitas teaching computers and have served on the City Council in 2013 and currently on City Council for last year.
My passion for our city of Kittitas; my desire to and enjoyment of learning new things, helping people, listening, and problem-solving.
• Infrastructure/Financial Management-failure to focus on priorities and long-range planning will result in the unnecessary tax burden on the citizens.
• Economic Development-we desperately needs economic development which drives and industrial base from the production of goods and services more than local consumption needs for the product, service, or activity. Economic Development aids in keeping local taxes to the citizens down and enhances safety, and desirable livability by aiding in cultur
In my opinion, there seems to be a failure of careful long-range planning:
• Infrastructure/Financial Management-failure to focus on priorities of a long-term plan will result in the unnecessary tax burden on the citizens. We need to be proactive, not reactive.
Quality of life for the elderly includes facilities for recreation and programs for their well-being, something that we lack in the City of Kittitas. I would support programs that would help seniors with recreational activities, educational opportunities, explore ways to partner with other organizations to provide recreational facilities and programs to Kittitas senior residents.
We have city parks that need improvement allowing seniors to ride bikes on paths, to walk, and enjoy the outdoors.
We need to be proactive and engage our senior citizens in defining gaps in serving them. I am committed to engaging our seniors.
In my opinion, this massive influx of illegals has lent cultural diversity, provided labor alternatives, and has boosted American business. However, they have also overpopulated American cities, put a serious drain on our social services, and have created a growing tension not only with US citizens but also the other immigrants that have persisted through the system and reside in the United States legally.
Our system has rules, and those rules must be enforced.
The most successful cities have strong leadership and a well-established strategic plan.
Our city has a great need for strategic infrastructure planning. We seem to have visions but fail to execute them. As Mayor, leadership, planning, visioning, and executing are a few of the most important roles of moving our city forward. It takes everyone to accomplish this the mayor, staff and the community.
Our city needs a strategy for homelessness; at present, I am not aware of any current plan in place. If elected this is an area that needs to as Mayor would address as there is a shortage of low-income family housing in our area. We would develop a task force to advise city policy makers on potential solutions to alleviate the lack of affordable housing.
