I have a real interest in economic development.  We need to market our town and support projects that attract home buyers, businesses, and people coming for our amenities; the golf, the parks, shopping and restaurants. We need to keep the taxes low while balancing our budget, grow our reserves and look for new ways to get the larger entities in Guilderland working together to save money- the schools, library and town. We have a good senior program through town hall but we need to plan for aging residents; they pay taxes and make communities stable. More sidewalks and better senior transportation are needed. On a smaller scale, address homeowner needs regarding enforcement; there are areas of blight and dozens of houses violating existing zoning codes that need to be addressed asap.

As Guilderland Town Comptroller and Human Resources Manager I gained valuable insight into the inner workings of the town. A few of my responsibilities included, monitoring all department spending and purchasing, and assisting in preparing the town budget. As a Town Board Member voting on the budget, I believe having this background knowledge will help me to make more informed decisions on what is best for our town and its tax payers. Through my volunteer service I have had the opportunity to meet and connect with hundreds of Guilderland residents. Town services, such as the parks and fire departments are part of what makes Guilderland great and sets us apart from other towns. I have seen first-hand how important these programs and services are to the residents of Guilderland and I will continue to help them grow into the future. My experience with working with the public as a CVS manager will help me coordinate and work with my fellow board members, town employees and residents.
One of my main goals is to help the town run more efficiently. In order to accomplish this goal I will take the time to meet and talk with each town employee. Town employees at every level have ideas about how to make their department more efficient and need to be heard. This will aid me in finding ways to cut town expenses without interrupting the incredible services we enjoy as residents of Guilderland. I believe in transparency, and I will make sure the details of our town budget are more accessible to the public so that taxpayers know how their money is being spent. It is very important to me that residents have their voices heard, and I will be approachable to all residents so that I can stay informed and be perceptible to our town and individual issues. By staying informed I will be better equip to discuss agenda items and work towards solutions.

Occupation and Special Skills As a lawyer, I advocate for my clients. As a public servant, I advocate for my constituents. I am interested in cooperating with others, regardless of their political party affiliation, to build consensus and to resolve questions and issues. I learned the importance of working with and assisting others from my family and, in particular, from my parents and two brothers. I value the need to respect the differences in and opinions of others, as well as the importance of expressing my own values and beliefs. I worked well with various members of the Guilderland Planning Board from different political parties and I have worked for all of our residents as a member of the Town Board. As a Town Board member and liaison for various Town Departments, I have acted and served in a prudent, fair and rational manner. I am honest, competent, courteous, trustworthy, fiscally conservative, dedicated and conscientious. I have demonstrated these qualities throughout my career, and throughout my public service. As an Assistant Town Attorney, I also substituted for other Town counsel at Zoning Board meetings and in Town Court. I served on the Town's sign ordinance committee. As a Town Board member since 2006, I have acted as a liaison for several Town departments, including the Police Department. Throughout that time, Guilderland has had the lowest taxes in Albany County. I have supported the Comprehensive Master Plan and a new and stringent ethics law, helped make available more affordable, quality housing for our seniors, promoted public safety and economic growth, expanded water lines, improved sewer and storm-water management, added sidewalks and open space, and enhanced our parks system and recreation programs.
I will dedicate time and energy to fulfill the needs of the residents of Guilderland. I pledge to continue to work "across party lines and affiliations" to serve all Guilderland residents. I will continue to advocate for a fiscally prudent and balanced budget, and a reduction in the town tax levy and expenditures. I will embrace the concept of "smart growth" by encouraging and supporting economic and mixed-use development, while adding open space, no-cut buffer zones and conservation easements. For our vibrant and deserving community, we will apply for and obtain the necessary grants and funding to continue to improve our streets and infrastructure, and to expand our parks, sidewalks, bike trails and walking paths. We will continue to promote affordable senior housing and aid our Police and emergency services with the best equipment and training to ensure public safety. We will continue to develop our Town's new and innovative zoning code to promote growth, creativity and prosperity.
