Experience (300 characters max) Senior Research Engineer with over 17 years of project management experience. Bachelor’s degree from WSU. Community Service: I will complete my second year as a member of the West Richland City Council in December 2017. This is my 10th year serving as Activity Director for Troop WA3130
West Richland is a bedroom community whose population has doubled in the past two decades. Road and infrastructure maintenance challenges will continue to grow as these systems age. Water resources are also a challenge in West Richland. Efforts to better leverage the inter-tie with the Columbia River sourced - City of Richland supply is being investigated. Careful budgeting and restrictions on unnecessary expenditures will help West Richland fund its growing street repair bill.
West Richland does not have a budget, or a mandate from its citizens to respond to homelessness.
Senior citizens are very welcome in the city of West Richland. As with other age groups, I am committed to providing a peaceful and safe family atmosphere in the city of West Richland. The rural “small town” feel of West Richland is an attraction for people of all ages.
Every person within the borders of the United States of America should be here legally. West Richland welcomes legal residents whether their family immigrated in 2017, 1917 or 1817…
West Richland has been encumbered with more than $19,000,000 in debt. We need to stop spending dollars that we don’t have. Although I am only one vote on the council, I will do my best to stop “pet projects” and “economic development projects” that to date have done nothing but cost the residents thousands of dollars for every household – with little or no return. The City of West Richland must focus its funds on maintaining the quality of our infrastructure, and paying off our debt so that our children don’t have to pay our debts for us.
I would list our top three problems in this order: 1) Spending more dollars than we have; 2) Spending dollars on things that the community doesn’t need or want – like $3M for a “gateway park,” $3M for a wine effluent processing plant, or over $8M for a new city government campus at the corner of Belmont and Keene; 3) Developing potable water resources that will continue to accommodate growth.
Publicly held city council meetings are an excellent venue to communicate with the mayor, city staff, and other council members. These meetings are recorded and the recordings are posted on the City website for all to review. Council and the public are always given the opportunity to comment and bring forth concerns or suggestions. logo
