I am uniquely qualified to serve in this position because I have witnessed, first hand, the need for the services that this library provides. Garden City has been my home for 45 years. I was an employee of this Library for over 30 years. I served as Automation Manager, Children’s Librarian and retired as the Assistant Director. I am a member of the Friends of the Library. I have served on the Garden City Library Board since August 2011.

Being mindful of the budget will ensure access to good books for our community and great service from our library staff. In order to provide optimum service the Library should be housed in a building that enhances it’s function. Our current location is over-crowded. It lacks adequate space for community programming, study rooms, class tours and technology instruction. A new building would require a library building grant or a bond . As a member of the Library Building Fund Committee I continue working with concerned citizens to achieve this goal. I want our library to continue to achieve QSAC (Quality Service Audit Checklist) Certification from the Michigan Library Association. We must make the library relevant to the needs of this community. We should offer classes on the newest technologies and continue to provide instruction on the use of smart phones, e-books and tablets. logo
