Vouchers/ Charter Schools: Unfortunately, the push to move forward with an expanded Voucher program, chips away at the public education system, by draining those ever so important dollars.

If we could give the power back to our educators allowing them the flexibility to teach freely versus teaching from a script just to prepare our children to take a standardized test. We would see significant changes in student achievement and engagement.

With a graduation rate of about 65%. There are definite equity issues. The top in my opinion are: access, excellence in education and financial.

Most children are motivated by what is in it for me. We need to ensure the children across the board have access to sports, performing arts, after school programs, etc..

If elected, I will advocate resources to these types of programs which will benefit those children who are at risk of dropping out.

We need to look at what we can do to ensure a high-quality learning experience for each child in the district providing them the best opportunity to be prepared, graduate and take the next steps in their life.

It’s our duty to ensure the superintendent has the best interest of the community (representative), they are being fiscally responsible with the limited resources available (stewardship) and that every child has the same access to all academic services (equality).
