I am new to running for an elected public office. I have witnessed many different styles of elected officials. There are some that are very popular and others that are not. I hope to bring my hometown personality to this position. Wilton is Wilton! We should not be judged by the national political stage. Wilton is by far a better place. I am a people person. I talk to a lot of people. I know a lot of people. I listen to a lot of people. Each has concerns and ideas. I will bring these people's voice to my position. I realize that everyone says this, but I live by it. In my position as a Deputy Fire Chief, my firefighters voices are heard in the workings of the department. I will educate myself to any and all business that is brought before the board. The voters will expect my decisions to be based upon a solid understanding, and not by how other board members vote. My decisions will be based on facts and community input. The right thing to do is not always the easiest thing to do.
I am a firm believer that meeting the voter does not end on election day. I will continue to meet my fellow Wilton Townspeople. I am in attendance at town events. After the election, I will be able to speak to the townspeople as a voice of their local government. I will still be randomly knocking on doors to get input and feed back. The voices, thoughts and ideas will make my input stronger. I will not be speaking for myself, but for you, the resident of the Town of Wilton. I will establish an easy line of communication to me.
As I speak to people, the biggest concern I hear, is traffic congestion. Through my experience, I am familiar with this issue. The town has been conducting studies into this concern. The traffic studies identifies the town's busiest roads and their conditions. The town is making roads wider when repaving, to make pedestrian traffic safer. The town's regulatory authority is limited by outside agencies. Traffic control devices are a difficult process to accomplish. We can not just put up a red light or control speed limits. There is a complex process involved.
No, we have not been impacted. We currently have no town or highway tax. Previous/current fiscally responsible Republican Leadership has put us in this position for three decades. I will maintain fiscal responsibility.

I care about people. I listen. Use common sense. If you are willing to ask "what do you want?", be quiet and listen, it's easy to find a way for people to get what they want.

When I last ran in 2007, I leaned about how our town can better serve its homeowners . In that year I learned of certain homeowners who had wet basements which had never before happened. It was an unusually high water table from winter thaw and rains simultaneously. I asked the planning folks at the town to raise the basis point for all future construction 1/2 foot/ foot , they did it. Easy response to future problems for future homeowners.
Whenever a variance or the like is done, the town sends out notices to a certain number of homes, depending on the scope of the project.

I'll send out more. Just because the Towns Website is Robust, people are busy. You have to do more to get there attention.
Here's what I've learned from various people on the campaign trail . Affordable Housing. Growth . Traffic . We need to go after business like Roy McDonald/ Ray O'Connor did. It would be great if we could get a delveloper to do a mixed use multi dwelling structure with small apartments/studios where the rents can be under 700/800 bucks as opposed to starting at 1200 and up . That's a lot to ask of a new working professional or laborer .
No, there is no town tax, however the town has to keep an eye on the likes of Amazon. There sales have Rocketed to 3-1 over the nations number 1 retailer, Walmart. With these trends for big box retailers you have to start asking what are you going to do to supplement sales tax as it's diminishing from retail . Eateries are great, that's why we have to start thinking of areas where people congregate, spend money, to drive the tax revenue that is poised to slowly evaporate from traditional retail landscape. I'm sorry we recently lost Dollar General distribution wherehouse to Amsterdam. Perhaps if we never got rid of a capable Town Planner Ms. Maynard. She might have done the RFP's to DOT, the county, etc, to see the project thru.

I have four years of experience on the Wilton Town Board. I am a local business owner in the town. I am an active volunteer at the Maple Avenue Fire Department. As an officer, we continue to train in leadership, problem solving, and team building. Most importantly, I have a wife and six children that we raised together in this town. Currently, I am a grandfather to six.
I have been, and will remain, accessible to the people of Wilton. I have answered many questions by phone, by email, and at my place of business. I will to continue to put residents needs ahead of outside interests.
The town of Wilton is in great shape. People continue to want to move here. Under Republican leadership, Wilton remains a family friendly place to raise your kids or retire. My goal would be to continue on with that tradition and keep Wilton a safe, affordable place to live.
No, because we do not have a town or highway tax. During my past four years our surplus has continued to grow while we have added various community services such as the spray park and the ice skating rink.

During high school and college, I worked for several political campaigns. I always felt that being involved poltically is important because it is the responsibility of a citizen to get involved, stay informed, and exercise the rights we are so fortunate to have. I have led several successful business efforts during my more than 20 years in marketing, including mulit-million dollar budgets requiring crucial strategic planning and thorough tactical implementation. I have a 10-year old son in the 5th grade at Dorothy Nolan Elementary School. We take full advantage of the wonderful opportunities at Wilton Recreation including the Jr. NBA and the summer camp as well as the Saratoga-Wilton Rec Soccer program at Gavin Park. We love Wilton.
