What unique experience/qualifications would you bring to this commission if elected?

I have worked directly with business owners, local and State government along with local residents to solve problems that affect our communities. I have deep Community Ties, I believe the best government is the one closest to the people! After serving my district for 8 years I have clear, firsthand understanding of the unique challenges facing our district and our County. I am commitment to preventing the rapid deterioration of our local quality of life.

What improvements to the county infrastructure, (e.g., transportation, broadband, public utilities, etc.) do you feel are the most urgent?

Our local infrastructure is facing unprecedented pressure. We must focus our utility investments on replacing aging water lines and stabilizing water pressure for rural residents, particularly around Watts Bar Lake and growing communities.

Whenever I-40 faces closes due to wrecks, commercial and tourist traffic immediately floods our local residential streets, overwhelming first responders and local citizens. We must secure priority funding for State Routes that serve as overflow tributaries to handle these traffic spikes safely. We need to continue pushing the state to expand I-40 from two to three lanes across the entire 23-mile stretch in Roane County while extending merge lanes at critical exits like 350 and 352.

What can Roane County do to help support the anticipated rapid growth in nuclear-related jobs in the Oak Ridge area—specifically in the areas of housing, traffic congestion, and infrastructure?

We must modernize county zoning ordinances to allow a diverse mix of housing, including single-family neighborhoods, townhomes, and multi-family developments that fit the budgets of incoming technicians, engineers, and other support personnel. New high-density housing should be strategically planned, protecting our rural farmland and lakefront communities from urban sprawl. We must continue to invest heavily in localized training facilities, such as Roane State Community College's workforce development programs, ensures Roane County residents are first in line for these high-paying clean energy jobs.

What is your understanding and opinion of banning and/or restricting books in public schools and libraries?

Unlike public county libraries—which serve the entire community from toddlers to adults—school libraries have a singular, captive audience of minors and a specific academic mission. Therefore, regulating school materials is not "censorship"; it is standard curriculum oversight and child protection.
