What steps should the State Legislature take to ensure a quality education for students?
Every child in Tennessee deserves access to a high-quality public education, regardless of their ZIP code. The state legislature should fully fund public schools, invest in teachers, reduce class sizes, expand career and technical education, and provide students with the resources they need to succeed.
As your State Representative, I have been a strong advocate for Tennessee’s public schools. I oppose private school voucher programs because they take taxpayer dollars away from the public schools that serve the majority of Tennessee students. Instead, we should invest in our teachers, classrooms, and communities. I will continue fighting to strengthen public education and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
What, if any, should be the role of the State Legislature in the regulation of data centers?
The state legislature has a responsibility to support innovation while protecting the communities we represent. Data centers can bring economic opportunity, but they must be built in the right locations. I oppose placing large-scale data centers in residential neighborhoods or near community institutions like Fisk University and the Nashville Zoo. As your State Representative, I have fought for transparency, accountability, and responsible development that puts people first. Economic growth should never come at the expense of our neighborhoods, our infrastructure, or our quality of life. Tennessee can grow while protecting the communities we call home.
What is something that you would like to accomplish during the next legislative session?
My goal for the next legislative session is to continue delivering results for working families by making Tennessee safer, more affordable, and more equitable. I will fight for common-sense gun safety, quality education, affordable healthcare, and opportunities for every Tennessean to thrive. I introduced HB1722 to lower the grocery tax, supported property tax relief, and cosponsored bills to reduce costs. Affordability is not just a promise it is a priority backed by action.
What do you think the State Legislature should do about the affordability crisis facing Tennesseans
The affordability crisis facing Tennesseans requires action. As your State Representative, I have fought for working families by introducing HB1722 to lower the grocery tax, because no family should pay more just to put food on the table. I also introduced HB2325 to provide property tax relief and help protect homeowners from rising costs. I will continue fighting for policies that lower everyday expenses, expand opportunity, and ensure every Tennessee family has a fair chance to thrive.
