Why are you running for this office?
I am running because every Tennesseean deserves a representative who will listen to them and act in their best interests, not the best interest of their own political party or pocketbook.
How has your background prepared you to serve in this office?
I grew up well below the poverty line and took advantage of numerous government benefits that I am terrified of seeing taken away from families like mine.
My educational experience includes both a law degree and a degree in information sciences, two things that legislators need extensive knowledge of.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
I believe the number one responsibility is meeting with and listening to your constituents. There is nothing to do in Nashville if you can't put in the work in Knoxville.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am caring, warm and generous to a fault, but I am also bold. My friends would say they can always count on me for candor and my constiuents would be able to say the same thing.
What top three things will you prioritize if elected to this office?
1. Expansion of Medicaid
2. Repeal of private-school voucher scheme
3. Common sense mearsure to help working mothers and families: paid parental leave and universal Pre-K
What are the main points you want voters to remember about you and your candidacy?
1. I've lived the "bootstraps" life.
2. I know it takes help to be successful.
3. I will make sure the government is doing what it's supposed to do: providing that help to the less fortunate among us.
