What professional and personal experiences make you the best candidate for this position?
I have lived in Washington County my entire life and love our county. I am married to Erin Matherly and have two children that attended Washington County Schools. I attend Boone's Creek Baptist Church I have served on the Washington County Commission for seven terms and served as Chairman of the County Commission for the last thirteen years. I have worked in Public Safety for the last 31 years here in Washington County and have served on and chaired many committees of the commission and special committees.
What are the most pressing issues in the office you are seeking, and how do you plan to address them?
We have experienced population growth in our county like never before that I can recall in the past. This growth has caused some extra strain on our communities' infrastructure requirements. This growth has came at a time of record inflation on products as well as services. Education continues to be one of the counties top expenses and as growth continues so will the need for educational spending. The need for increasing all areas of public safety and road and highway development will be an ever increasing need in our area.
