What impact do you hope to have on the City of Marshall and how would the citizens of Marshall benefit from your election as mayor?

The residents of Marshall will benefit from having a Mayor who can relate to them and is down to earth. I'm a real person who has had real life experiences here in Marshall. I know the strife's that some people have suffered here. I 'm willing stand up for the residents and the community as a whole. People tell me I'm a 1:1, meaning extremely unique. Communication is a huge problem with the current Mayor. As Mayor, I want to have a direct line of communication the residents. If there are crimes being committed at night for several years, I want to make sure the town is informed, so we can act accordingly. These streets will be safe and aware going forward with me in office. I have an affinity for standing up to corporations for the people.

What do you feel are the top three issues in Marshall and how will you address them?

1. AI data centers wanting to build here: I'm calling for a permanent ban of all AI data centers in the area code of 49068. This is about Marshall, not what the corporations want done. As Mayor I will call for a vote for the permanent ban. I will encourage a "People First" mentality going forward.

2. Malicious crime at night: Make an awareness about the crime rate raising these past 4-5 years. MPD claims they lack resources; I want to get to the bottom of this and see what they need at night to make the town safer. People of Marshall shouldn't be having their doors kicked in or vehicles damaged at night by criminals.

3. Preserving Marshall: I want to preserve as many structures & traditions as possible. Let's keep that historic touch!

How can the city better engage residents in decision making before major projects are approved?

Voting by residents on all major issues needs to be a priority in Marshall. If the people can't vote on it, they won't be satisfied. Engagement at the council meetings, where there's an actual back-and-forth conversion in real time would be a good start for improvement. Currently the city council will not address issues brought up by the residents during the meeting.

What impact do you hope to have on the City of Marshall and how would the citizens of Marshall benefit from your election as mayor?

I believe the City Council has laid the foundation for a prosperous future for the City of Marshall. I want to continue the policies that have gotten us here while adapting to what comes next. But, all change comes with challenges and those challenges must be managed responsibly. I believe that I am the best candidate running for mayor to address these challenges and keep progress moving forward in Marshall while also preserving everything people love most about Marshall.

What do you feel are the top three issues in Marshall and how will you address them?

The #1 issue facing Marshall is housing and, specifically, affordable housing. We have implemented several efforts to make housing development more affordable, but factors outside of our control continue to cause new housing to be out of reach for many residents. I will continue to work with city staff to find programs to attract new, affordable, housing. The #2 issue facing Marshall is managing economic development. As people and businesses move into Marshall, we must prioritize preserving our historic character and small-town feel. Those are essential aspects of our identity as a community. The #3 issue facing Marshall is the possible data center development. If this project happens, we will ensure it is the right fit for Marshall.

How can the city better engage residents in decision making before major projects are approved?

In the new budget City Council approved a few new positions and one of them was a Communications Director. That person has now started in the new job and is already looking into our existing communications processes and developing new ones. With this new position focused on how the city can better communicate with residents, I anticipate significant improvements in getting information into the hands of residents faster. My hope is that this will allow residents to be better aware of what is happening in the city and allow them to interact with city staff or City Council when they have concerns or want to support a new project.
