If elected, what are your top 3 priorities?

My top priorities: Keep Danville debt free - no unfunded liabilities. Protect small town atmosphere. Maintain fiscal responsibility with balanced budget and high reserves. Preserve open space and family neighborhoods. Keep Danville the safest community in California. Expand programs for youth and seniors.

I will continue to support carefully thought out economic policies to help our local businesses. At the same time, under my guidance, Danville has remained debt free, with no post retirement obligations and no unfunded liabilities, making it the most cost-effective community around.

Greetings, my name is Julia Gillette, and I am delighted to be running for a seat on the Danville City Council. I am excited to bring balance and a new perspective to this beautiful city. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master’s in Environmental Policy and Management. I worked with the EPA with lead regulations and enforcement. I also worked at San Joaquin County Public Works and the City of Modesto as a Right of Way Manager. In addition, I am a real estate broker and property manager and being semi-retired I have plenty of time to fulfill my responsibilities to the city council. I enjoy playing softball with the Walnut Creek Creakers and competitive tennis at Crow Canyon Bay Club. If elected my plan is to bring my real estate knowledge to the current state-approved housing plans. If the State of California is serious about seeing housing production, they should focus less on mandates and stop punishing cities. If you have lived in Danville for more than 5 years, do you think the city has lost some of its small-town charm? If elected I will have fresh eyes with everything that comes before the City Council.

If elected, what are your top 3 priorities?

As an elected official I am already getting the job done. 1) Balancing budgets while offering a high level of Municipal service delivery to our residents. Danville, with careful planning and saving money for a rainy day, we have been able to consistently produce a balanced budget with no unfunded liabilities. 2) Provide a high level of public safety and a healthy community.Danville has managed to be named the Safest City in the State of California year after year. This level of public safety creates a sense of trust and confidence in our residence. 3) Legislation regarding local control and our Housing Element. This includes current/future development, protecting our local infrastructure and regulation.

What background, experience and/or education qualify you for this elected office? (You may use your candidate statement here if desired.)

I have been on the Council for 12 years. Throughout my tenure, Danville has maintained fiscal responsibility, with no unfunded liabilities and I have safeguarded our high financial reserves. I support our local businesses, preserved our town’s history, and defended our open space. My service to Danville spans 20 years. I was a Danville Planning Commissioner, on Historic Design Review Commission and the Heritage Resource Commission.During this time I implemented stronger open space guidelines, tightened historic preservation guidelines, and updated two General Plans.I have a diverse list of civic and community activities reaching beyond Danville. It is important to keep experience on the council to accomplish these goals, continuing to guide Danville now and into the future.
