What are the two most pressing issues facing the city and how will you address them?
Streets and playgrounds. For our Town Grant Funding will be needed to adequately address and fund these issues. I plan to aggressively seek out grant funding to assist the Town in making the needed repairs to our streets and for revitalizing our playgrounds with new playground equipment and bring them into ADA compliance.
What are your priorities in drafting and adopting the budget?
The budget should be drafted so as to anticipate as much as possible what our known operating expenses our. There also needs be budgeting for equipment replacement and repairs, city street maintenance and repairs as well as anticipate maintenance costs for Town structures.
What role, if any, should municipalities play in addressing social inequities? Please explain.
Social inequities come in many forms. They can come in the form racial inequities, financial inequities, inequities due to disabilities as well as many others, It is the responsibility of municipalities to insure all citizens are treated fairly and with respect.
How do you propose to decrease residents' reliance on septic systems and convert to central wastewater treatment?
Currently the Town of Pierson is in the planning and implementation stage of the first phase of a central wastewater treatment system. This first phase will be the beginning of a wastewater system for the Town of Pierson.
