Why am I running? I believe our community deserves leadership that is willing to listen, plan for the future, and recognize that the challenges we face today require us to think differently about tomorrow. Smyrna is a wonderful community. It is a place where families build their lives, children grow up, businesses invest, and neighbors come together. But Smyrna has changed. We have grown, and in many ways, our infrastructure and planning have struggled to keep up with that growth.
About Me I am a wife, a mother, a business professional, and someone who believes strongly in giving back to the community I call home. I volunteer my time coaching youth sports in Smyrna and Murfreesboro, helping young people learn not only the skills of the game but also the importance of teamwork, accountability, and perseverance. I also serve as the treasurer of my HOA, where I see firsthand how important it is for communities to work together, listen to one another, and make responsible decisions. I have two master’s degrees, and MBA and MSML which make me the perfect candidate to run a town.

What do you see as the main responsibilities of the mayor?

1. Providing leadership and vision * Help establish the community’s long-term priorities. * Work with the Town Council to develop policies that address Smyrna’s growth and future. * Represent the interests of residents in major community decisions.

2. Working with the Town Council * Serve as a member of the governing body. * Participate in discussions and decisions concerning ordinances, budgets, development, infrastructure and town services. * Help build consensus among council members and the community.

3. Representing Smyrna * Serve as one of the town’s primary public representatives. * Meet with residents, businesses, community organizations and regional/state officials. * Promote Smyrna and advocate for resources and opportunities.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Smyrna at this time?

Biggest challenges facing Smyrna at this time is infrastructure, senior housing and small businesses.

Infrastructure is about ten years behind growth and we need to do something now before we get further into a mess.

We need more options for senior housing. We need to encourage development of affordable, safe senior housing. Look for ways to help seniors remain in Smyrna rather than being priced out as the community grows. Support a variety of options, from independent living to assisted living.

Small businesses are leaving Smyrna. We need to make it easier to start and operate a business. Streamline city processes and permitting where possible. Create a more accessible point of contact within the town for small-business owners.

If elected as mayor, how would you address that challenge?

We need to encourage development of affordable, Make Smyrna easier to navigate for older residents. Prioritize safe sidewalks, crossings, lighting and accessibility. Consider transportation options for seniors who no longer drive.

I will support the businesses already here. Economic development shouldn’t only mean recruiting large companies. Help existing locally owned businesses expand, hire and remain competitive.

Focusing on growth and infrastructure for the priorities I already identified, such as: * Roads and traffic * Water and sewer capacity * Public safety * Responsible development * Infrastructure that keeps pace with Smyrna’s growth.

Why am I running? I am running because I care deeply about Smyrna, am proud of what we have accomplished and believe there is still important work to be done. As our community continues to grow, we must continue to address traffic and infrastructure, maintain strong public safety and Town services, and protect the quality of life our residents value. I believe my experience, proven record of fiscal responsibility, and relationships at the local, regional and state levels will help us meet these challenges.
About Me I have proudly called Smyrna home my entire life. I began my career as a kindergarten teacher after earning three degrees from MTSU and later became a small business owner. My service to Smyrna has included serving as Councilmember, Vice Mayor and Mayor. I have served on numerous community and regional boards, including the Boys & Girls Clubs, TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center and MTSU boards and committees. I currently chair the Greater Nashville Regional Council. My husband, Britt, and I have built our lives here, and I am the proud mother of my son, Parker Bell. Smyrna is home.

What do you see as the main responsibilities of the mayor?

Under Smyrna’s form of government, the Mayor presides over the Town Council, votes on matters before the Council and fulfills the duties outlined in our Town Charter. Beyond these duties, I believe the Mayor must provide leadership, help establish a long-term vision and work collaboratively with the Council, Town Manager and staff. The Mayor should advocate for Smyrna with county, state, regional and federal partners, be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars, and remain accessible and accountable to residents. Most importantly, the Mayor should listen, bring people together and make decisions that serve Smyrna today while preparing for our future.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing Smyrna at this time?

Smyrna’s biggest challenge is managing our continued growth while making sure our infrastructure and Town services keep pace. Our growth is a sign that Smyrna remains a desirable place for people to live, work and invest, but our residents also experience its impact through traffic and increased demands on roads, utilities, public safety and other services. We must continue to consider not only individual developments, but their cumulative impact on our Town. The challenge is not simply whether Smyrna will grow, but how we will continue to manage this growth responsibly, maintain our financial strength, protect existing neighborhoods and preserve the quality of life our residents expect.

If elected as mayor, how would you address that challenge?

I would address this challenge by continuing to plan for growth and infrastructure together. Transportation must remain a top priority through continued investment in roads, intersections, traffic signals and new connections, while working with TDOT and regional partners on larger projects. We must continue to evaluate how new development affects traffic, utilities, public safety and surrounding neighborhoods, and ensure growth contributes appropriately to the infrastructure needs it creates. I will continue working with council on planning ahead for roads, utilities and Town services, pursuing outside funding, protecting Smyrna’s financial strength and listening to residents as we make decisions about our community’s future.
