Experience and Qualifications
I represent New York's 37th Senate District, covering northeast Yonkers, Eastchester, Scarsdale, White Plains, North Castle, Pound Ridge, and the Sound Shore communities of Westchester County. Elected in April 2018, I was re-elected in 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024. Before the Senate, I served six years in the State Assembly representing Yonkers. I chair the Senate Education and Ethics Committees and serve on several others, including Elections, Finance, Judiciary, Labor, and Rules, and am part of the Legislative Women’s Caucus. Before my political career, I was a public-interest attorney, serving as Chief Counsel to the Senate Democrats, Senior Counsel at Columbia Law, and VP at Continuum Health. From 1982 to 1994, I served as an Assistant Attorney General under Bob Abrams, handling reproductive health and civil rights cases and eventually becoming a senior advisor. I have consistently advocated for public education, healthcare access, workers' rights, and government accountability.

District Leader, Yonkers Democratic Committee, Member, Board of Visitors, Pace Law School, previously served on the Board of the Yonkers Public Library and multiple other boards.
Education
I received a JD from SUNY Buffalo School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA.
