EDUCATION: How do you evaluate Michigan’s current education system in terms of quality, funding, the teacher workforce and standardized testing? What changes, if any, would you propose or support?

From my experience with the Michigan education system I am pleased overall. I see educators that are supported and placed in situations to succeed. At the same time, I know that this is not the case across all districts. I believe we need to continue to invest in our teachers and schools to provide the necessary staff and materials. I believe we need to invest in school based mental health and behavioralists to support our teachers with issues beyond their scope. We need to continue to support preschool for all and free breakfast and lunch.

ECONOMY: What policy initiatives do you support for residents to earn a living wage and address the overall question of affordability across Michigan?

I support the repeal of Right to Work and will continue to advocate against it. I support unionization and a minimum wage that keeps pace with inflation and costs of living. We need to be sure that people who work can afford to live.

ENVIRONMENT/ENERGY: How would you approach ensuring energy reliability, consumer affordability, and environmental protection in Michigan?

I believe that we need to create public utilities to eliminate the constant rate hikes from profit minded companies. We need to invest in clean alternatives in logical and sensible ways that don't destroy farmland and natural resources. We need to push back against data centers. We need to protect our natural resources from commercial interests and increase accessibility to our natural resources like the Great Lakes and our nature preserves.

IMMIGRATION: What is your position on due process, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment rights for all Michigan residents, including noncitizens, and what changes, if any, would you support?

I believe that, as it is written, ALL people have the protections of the US Constitution. I would support NO changes that conflict with the US Constitution.
