EDUCATION: How do you evaluate Michigan’s current education system in terms of quality, funding, the teacher workforce and standardized testing? What changes, if any, would you propose or support?

Michigan’s education system has great teachers and strong communities, but decades of underfunding and outdated policies have left schools struggling. Proposal A no longer reflects the true cost of education, and schools need funding that accounts for inflation, infrastructure, special education, and workforce training. We must support teachers with better pay and retention efforts while reducing the overreliance on standardized testing. Education should prepare students for real careers and strong futures while strengthening communities across Michigan.

ECONOMY: What policy initiatives do you support for residents to earn a living wage and address the overall question of affordability across Michigan?

I support policies that put working people and families first, including initiatives like money out of politics so large corporations and special interests have less influence over the decisions that affect everyday Michiganders. I also support long-term investment strategies like Fund MI Future that focus on strengthening public education, infrastructure, and economic opportunity instead of continuing to push costs onto local communities and working families. Affordability is not just about wages. It is about housing costs, property taxes, healthcare, childcare, utilities, and making sure government is accountable to the people.

ENVIRONMENT/ENERGY: How would you approach ensuring energy reliability, consumer affordability, and environmental protection in Michigan?

Michigan must balance energy reliability, affordability, and environmental protection at the same time. Families are paying higher utility costs while still dealing with outages and aging infrastructure. I support stronger oversight of utility companies to ensure rate increases are tied directly to grid improvements and better service for residents. I also support investments in infrastructure modernization, clean energy innovation, and protecting Michigan’s natural resources, farmland, air, and water while ensuring corporate interests do not outweigh the needs of local communities and working families.

IMMIGRATION: What is your position on due process, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment rights for all Michigan residents, including noncitizens, and what changes, if any, would you support?

Due process and constitutional rights are fundamental rights that apply to everyone in the United States, including noncitizens. I support protecting First Amendment rights like free speech and peaceful protest, as well as Fourth Amendment protections against unlawful searches and seizures. Public safety and secure borders matter, but so does following the Constitution and ensuring people are treated fairly under the law. I do not support policies that undermine civil liberties, target people without due process, or erode trust between communities and law enforcement.
