EDUCATION: How do you evaluate Michigan’s current education system in terms of quality, funding, the teacher workforce and standardized testing? What changes, if any, would you propose or support?

be:

Michigan doesn’t have an education spending problem alone—we have an education results problem. We should fully support our teachers and schools, but taxpayers deserve accountability for every dollar we invest. As state representative, I’ll fight for early literacy, stronger math education, better teacher retention, expanded skilled-trades opportunities, and transparent reporting so parents and taxpayers can see whether our investments are actually improving student outcomes.

ECONOMY: What policy initiatives do you support for residents to earn a living wage and address the overall question of affordability across Michigan?

Affordability is becoming an alarming issue in Michigan. First, I wouldn’t support any legislation that would directly increase taxes for Michigan residents. Before asking taxpayers for more money, Michigan should continually examine:

* State contracts * Administrative overhead * Duplicative programs * Ineffective economic-development incentives * Unused or underused government programs * Procurement costs

Savings can then be redirected toward tax relief, infrastructure, education and programs that directly benefit working families.

ENVIRONMENT/ENERGY: How would you approach ensuring energy reliability, consumer affordability, and environmental protection in Michigan?

Michigan shouldn’t have to choose between energy reliability, affordability and environmental protection, we can have all three. I would hold utility companies responsible for energy grid upgrades. More transparency in upgrades, rate cases, infrastructure updates, major contracts and costs. I would not support any legislation for new data centers. Any development should be paused while investigating the impact it will have on the environment and state resources.

IMMIGRATION: What is your position on due process, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment rights for all Michigan residents, including noncitizens, and what changes, if any, would you support?

The Constitution is not a partisan document. I will defend the First Amendment rights of people whose opinions I agree with—and people whose opinions I don’t. I will support law enforcement and public safety while protecting every Michigan resident’s Fourth Amendment right to be secure from unreasonable government intrusion. Constitutional rights belong to everyone.
