EDUCATION: How do you evaluate Michigan’s current education system in terms of quality, funding, the teacher workforce and standardized testing? What changes, if any, would you propose or support?

Michigan's education system is falling behind. As a school board trustee, I see it up close: funding is unpredictable, and teachers are vilified instead of supported, driving good people out of the profession. I support smaller class sizes, stable funding districts can plan around, and local control over how dollars are spent — not blank checks from Lansing. I also back expanding alternate certification pathways to fill shortages. On testing: it should inform instruction, not define a school's or teacher's worth. I'd scale back high-stakes testing in favor of real-time tools that actually help teachers help kids.

ECONOMY: What policy initiatives do you support for residents to earn a living wage and address the overall question of affordability across Michigan?

Too many local families are working hard and still coming up short. We make life more affordable by lowering everyday costs and keeping good-paying jobs in Michigan.

Childcare costs as much as rent for young families. I support expanding childcare tax credits and opening more local spots so parents can afford to work. On property taxes, folks deserve real relief — not a reckless plan that guts funding for our schools, roads, and police. I support targeted relief for seniors and veterans on fixed incomes so no one is taxed out of a home they’ve already paid off.

ENVIRONMENT/ENERGY: How would you approach ensuring energy reliability, consumer affordability, and environmental protection in Michigan?

Protecting our grid, environment, and wallets takes common sense. I'll hold utilities accountable for grid upgrades so power stays on in storms, and fight rate hikes that hit families while utility profits climb.

We must also protect Lake St. Clair — it's not just recreation, it's the backbone of local tourism, boating, and small business. I support a ban on new data center expansion until we can figure out how to protect our grid and water — and once that's settled, any that operate here pay for their own clean energy, not pass the cost to Michigan families.

IMMIGRATION: What is your position on due process, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment rights for all Michigan residents, including noncitizens, and what changes, if any, would you support?

I fully support the U.S. and Michigan Constitutions. Everyone in our state should be secure in the rights those documents guarantee.

Due process and Fourth Amendment protections exist to keep government power in check, requiring real cause before searching, detaining, or punishing anyone. That principle doesn't depend on immigration status; it depends on keeping government accountable, which protects us all.

I'll oppose efforts to sidestep warrants, due process, or free speech protections for expediency, and support oversight that keeps government accountable to the people it serves.
