I have joined colleagues in calling on Speaker Johnson to extend the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits, because these subsidies are essential to keeping coverage affordable for millions of Americans. I have also introduced legislation to expand care in rural communities and improve access to providers in areas that face shortages. In addition, I have fought to eliminate income caps on ACA premium subsidies to ensure that working-class families and small business owners are not priced out of affordable health insurance as costs continue to rise.

Whether burdened by the cost of housing, child care, groceries, health care, or prescription drugs, too many hardworking people are doing everything right and still struggling to get ahead. Addressing affordability requires a comprehensive approach. I support policies that strengthen wages and economic security while also lowering the everyday costs that strain family budgets, including raising incomes through support for workers and small businesses, as well as reducing barriers like childcare and housing costs that prevent people from getting ahead financially. We must also continue working to lower health care and prescription drug costs.

I support investments that help lower energy costs over the long term, including energy efficiency programs that allow homeowners and small businesses to reduce their monthly utility bills through upgrades and weatherization. I also support efforts to strengthen competition and transparency in energy markets so consumers have access to fair and predictable prices. Reliability must remain a core priority by investing in modernizing our electric grid, strengthening critical infrastructure, and expanding a diverse mix of energy sources so families and businesses have dependable access to power. We must also protect our environment.

The Constitution guarantees fundamental rights to due process, free speech, and protection against unlawful search and seizure, and those rights are the foundation of our democracy. No person should be deprived of liberty or property without fair procedures, access to counsel where appropriate, and a meaningful opportunity to be heard.

I support expanding Medicaid access, making it easier for insurers to compete across state lines, and broadening open enrollment so families have more choice. I would also support legislation to eliminate co-pays where possible, while aggressively targeting fraud, waste, and abuse so taxpayer dollars go toward care instead of bureaucracy.

There are two core issues behind the affordability crisis: inflation and wage stagnation. We can reduce inflation by getting serious about deficit spending and moving toward a balanced budget. To raise wages, we need to strengthen small businesses, expand skilled trades and technical training, hold colleges accountable for helping graduates find jobs, enforce fair competition, and make sure working people benefit when the economy grows.

Michigan needs an energy policy that is realistic, affordable, and reliable. I support modernizing the grid, investing in next-generation nuclear, expanding solar and wind where they are cost-effective, and using cleaner technology like carbon capture where it makes sense. We cannot shut down dependable energy before replacements are ready. The goal should be lower emissions, stable prices, and a cleaner future without punishing working families.

I believe basic constitutional protections have to be respected for everyone in Michigan, including noncitizens. That means due process, free speech, and protection from unreasonable searches. I also believe our immigration laws need to be enforced, but they should be enforced fairly and within the Constitution. I would support faster immigration courts, stronger border security, and a system that does not punish legal residents or families trying to do things the right way.

Free-Market Reform: Support genuine healthcare market competition over "window-dressing" policies that protect special interests rather than patients. Indemnity Insurance: Prioritize indemnity-style plans over restrictive health plans to give consumers choice and naturally force providers to be transparent with pricing. Protect the Disabled: Secure robust coverage options for disabled patients who are frequently squeezed out by limited networks. Direct Primary Care: Back personal healthcare spending accounts to fund innovative models like Direct Primary Care (DPC); which delivers excellent, high-quality care outside traditional insurance.

Pro-Growth Policies: Boost wages and affordability by encouraging competition, private innovation, and lowering taxes.

Support Small Business: Slash onerous regulations (like healthcare rules) so small companies can hire more and pay competitive wages.

Fight Inflation: Stop government overspending and money "printing" that hurts low-wage and fixed-income earners most. School Choice: Give parents freedom to choose the best option for their child, including private or home school.

AI & Critical Thinking: Prepare kids for a technological future by focusing heavily on critical thinking skills to meet the challenges of AI.

Abundant Energy: Secure affordable, plentiful energy to drive economic growth, create jobs, and maintain our standard of living.

Realistic Trade-offs: Avoid green mandates that drive up prices; all energy sources impact the environment, so policies must serve the common good, not special interests.

Nuclear Portfolio: Invest in a diverse energy mix featuring clean, highly reliable nuclear power and develop improved methods to recycle spent nuclear material.

Grid Security: Stop delays and immediately use approved congressional billions to protect the power grid from extreme weather events and terrorist attacks.

Enforce Constitutional Protections: Prioritize the rights of American citizens, which have been compromised by loose, open-border immigration policies.

Restore Order: Reverse the suspension of immigration laws that allowed dangerous individuals to enter, and remove them immediately to protect citizens and bring order.

Prevent Exploitation: Stop illegal immigration, which exploits vulnerable people, making them easy targets for crime and workplace abuse due to fear of deportation.

Reform Asylum: Automatically deport asylum seekers who failed to apply in the first safe country they entered, ending taxpayer-funded strain on our legal system.
