I support a Medicare for All system that guarantees healthcare coverage to every American while reducing administrative waste and eliminating many of the costs that burden patients, employers, and providers. Healthcare should not stop at treating illness. Preventative care, mental healthcare, vision, dental care, and wellness services should be accessible before small problems become life-altering catastrophe. Additionally, access to treatment, recovery services, behavioral health programs, and mental healthcare can be expanded so people receive the support they need before a crisis becomes a tragedy.

The future of work must include workers who have too often been left behind by existing labor laws. Gig workers and other independent workers deserve transparency, and a meaningful voice in shaping their working conditions. Diop supports exploring portable benefits, protecting workers from unfair deactivation practices, and creating pathways for collective bargaining that reflect today's economy.

When federal dollars are invested in infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, and economic development projects, workers should share in the benefits. Diop supports creating good jobs and creating a livable minimum wage tied to the rate of inflation.

I support utilizing the Defense Production Act to rebuild our aging and crumbling infrastructure. Not only can we replace what we have, we can upgrade and create more resilient infrastructure by investing in us. I supports sustained federal investment in modern infrastructure projects that improve reliability, create jobs, and strengthen local economies. I also support hyper-charging research, development and implementation of next-generation, green energy production. By transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy, we can create more jobs, combat the climate crisis and lower energy costs by harvesting cheaper, more reliable energy.

Rather than relying on a separate immigration enforcement agency like ICE, Diop supports moving immigration-related investigations and enforcement responsibilities into the Department of Justice (DOJ), where actions are overseen by established courts, legal standards, and constitutional safeguards. Serious crimes such as human trafficking, drug smuggling, and labor exploitation should continue to be aggressively prosecuted, but immigration enforcement itself should operate under a system that emphasizes due process, consistency, and public accountability.

Our approach rejects the false choice between secure borders and civil liberties.

Too many families are struggling to afford healthcare. In 2013, I was proud to vote for the expansion of Medicaid to one million people in MI, making it possible for more families to have healthcare coverage, but we need to do more. Politicians in Washington have made it harder for families to access affordable healthcare. Cuts to Medicaid, jeopardizing rural hospitals, and the refusal to extend ACA tax credits paid for by tax breaks for the wealthy, must be undone. I'll fight to restore healthcare access and make it more affordable. I’ll expand Medicaid, extend the ACA credits, and fight for lower prescription costs and against further cuts.

Michigan families work hard and should be able to earn a living wage, access affordable housing and health care, pay for gas to fill their cars and groceries to feed their families. I was proud to deliver one of the largest tax relief packages in MI history. It’s time to do more: I’ll work to cut taxes for middle class families, oppose reckless tariffs, and stand up against forever wars that cost our country billions while jacking up gas and grocery prices. I'll fight to restore healthcare and lower prescription costs. I’ll stop private equity from buying up available housing to jack up rent prices. I support raising the federal minimum wage.

From the Great Lakes to our rivers and everything in between, our clean air and water is what makes Michigan great. We know what happens when you don’t take care of the water, as we saw with the lead water crisis in Benton Harbor and PFAS-contaminated water in Parchment.

No one should have to worry about the safety of the water they drink.

Michigan can be a leader in the growing domestic and clean energy economy – we should be building energy infrastructure here at home, so we don’t have to rely on foreign oil or foreign energy. We can create good-paying energy jobs and lower utility rates while we’re at it.

Our immigration system is broken – we need real, common-sense reforms that keep our communities safe. I believe in strong borders. I believe that criminals should be held accountable under the law. I do not believe that we should be tearing families apart and causing chaos in our street instead of focusing on holding criminals accountable,

Real reform means creating pathways to citizenship for those who have been living, working, and paying taxes in our communities for years. We can address immigration issues in a way consistent with our values as Americans.

The quality of healthcare in the US is the best in the world—if one can afford it. But the US is an outlier in healthcare affordability. These costs especially impact small businesses and the self-employed. Public-private partnerships can benefit everyone here. The Federal government should leverage the critical mass of healthcare “customers” to exert influence on the healthcare marketplace to lower prices. The government should support research into new medicines and procedures with the stipulation that costs for the results should be reasonable. For vaccines that are (and should be) required the Federal government should offer subsidies.

I support the rescinding of tariffs and the Administration’s ability to impose them without a vote by Congress. Tariffs are just another tax on the American people and have driven up costs. Expert analyses estimate that we are paying from $600 to $1200 extra due to tariffs this year alone. Tariffs have been misused against allies in ways that have not only broken longstanding relationships but have placed unnecessary financial burdens on we Americans. I support policies that promote the creation, expansion, and relocation of companies that pay good wages to workers. I would promote fiscal responsibility to ensure a stable and strong economy.

Renewable energy technologies must be given priority. Not utilizing wind, water, and solar to generate power is a missed opportunity to both lower costs and protect the environment. The planned closure of outdated electrical generation plants should proceed without the interference of the Federal government. Construction of new datacenters should be given careful thought to ensure that their demands do not raise electricity prices. As the Great Lakes State, we should do all we can to preserve and promote our natural beauty, care for this amazing creation, and pass it along to our kids.

We are a nation built by immigrants, and immigration remains critical to a successful future. But the current system is a mess, and Congress must do its job to reform immigration. Still, the Constitution must be respected, as should processes which immigrants are following. In pursuing illegal immigrants, authorities should respect the Fourth Amendment, including obtaining judicial warrants for arrests. Proper training for ICE agents is needed, and their masks should be removed. Detention centers should be de-privatized and run humanely. Those citizens protesting against detention centers should be afforded their full First Amendment rights.
