EDUCATION: How do you evaluate Michigan’s current education system in terms of quality, funding, the teacher workforce and standardized testing? What changes, if any, would you propose or support?

Teaching is one of our most noble and important professions, and the 68th district is home to some of Michigan’s greatest public school communities. That’s why I support: >Raising teachers’ wages so that they are paid what they are worth and can continue to educate our students while easing their financial fears. >Incentives to encourage college students to become teachers to combat the existing teacher shortage. >Preventing MAGA extremist attempts to slash teacher pay, shift public money into private schools, and cut school services and programs.

ECONOMY: What policy initiatives do you support for residents to earn a living wage and address the overall question of affordability across Michigan?

Relief for families >Build more homes to ensure affordability in the market, especially for first-time buyers. We should incentivize developers to clean up blighted and abandoned properties, transforming them into new housing. >Expand access to affordable childcare.

Energy affordability >Prevent utility companies from raising rates without warning or justification to homeowners >I support an all-hands-on-deck approach to lower the cost of gas in Michigan.

Affordable and Accessible Healthcare >Lowering prescription drug prices which affect our seniors. >Protect small and rural hospitals >Expand access to affordable mental health care

ENVIRONMENT/ENERGY: How would you approach ensuring energy reliability, consumer affordability, and environmental protection in Michigan?

>By making sure that energy companys comply with regulations and stay out of politics >Support Moratoriums on large data centers to guarantee that these facilities and their effects are studied thoroughly for their environmental and economic impacts, and so that local communities may give advice and consent before approval. >Protect customers by working on common sense regulations to prevent increases in rates. >Protecting and strengthening Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources to ensure the safety of our natural environment.

IMMIGRATION: What is your position on due process, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment rights for all Michigan residents, including noncitizens, and what changes, if any, would you support?

I believe that every person has a right to due process and protection under the 1st and 4th amendments. All people should be treated with dignity and respect and I will fight to ensure those rights.

EDUCATION: How do you evaluate Michigan’s current education system in terms of quality, funding, the teacher workforce and standardized testing? What changes, if any, would you propose or support?

Education starts with recognizing the rights of individual students to choose a development path based on student interest.

Michigan's per-pupil funding system is one of the best education-funding mechanisms in the country because it eliminates imbalanced property tax funding and instead funds schools based on students in attendance.

Let’s improve upon the current system by funding students directly and reserving 20-33% of funding for community school buildings to keep communities together, improve learning environments, and offer an option for self-paced and gamified learning, and the study of our natural rights. ECONOMY: What policy initiatives do you support for residents to earn a living wage and address the overall question of affordability across Michigan?

The rising cost of living is the direct result of deficit spending and inflationary money printing on part of the federal government; wasteful spending on inefficient, outdated centralized power, water, food and road systems at the state and local levels; and a general lack of accountability of government to the individual.

Living wage laws do not fix the issue—a well-managed currency; government rooted in our natural rights to life, liberty & justice; and employee-equity in the companies we work for and with is the answer to keeping pace with the rising cost of living. ENVIRONMENT/ENERGY: How would you approach ensuring energy reliability, consumer affordability, and environmental protection in Michigan?

My experience as a Marine Corps Logistics and Anti-Terror Force Protection Officer taught me that centralized power, water, food, and waste systems are easy targets for disruption.

Decentralize power, water and waste systems to the household level. Empower university endowment and government treasuries to finance low-cost loans to fund improvements. Encourage micro-grid investment on a subdivision basis. Eliminate the use of pesticides, fungicides and herbicides to improve public health and reduce the cost of chemically-caused illness. Encourage nature preservation in communities through local land trusts. Read: VoteJoeMcHugh.com

IMMIGRATION: What is your position on due process, First Amendment, and Fourth Amendment rights for all Michigan residents, including noncitizens, and what changes, if any, would you support?

The USA PATRIOT Act repealed our federal right to due process and Bill of Rights by empowering the FBI and the general public to obstruct and interfere in the daily life of innocent individuals. (FBI.gov/investigate/terrorism)

Every individual has a natural right to life, liberty and justice regardless of citizenship. To restore our rights, we must amend our constitutions to declare our Natural Rights, reform the FBI to honor and preserve our Natural Rights, and allow every individual to hire and fire a personal political representative by affidavit.
