What are the most important challenges facing our country, and how do you propose to address them?
The U.S. faces six critical challenges. On economic inequality, I propose the American Economic Security Act: a $50K minimum livable income, Employer of Last Resort program, and $50B wealth cap—using demand-side economics to stimulate growth. On climate change, we need renewable energy investment, carbon pricing, sustainable infrastructure, and environmental justice. On healthcare, I support Medicare-for-All, expanded mental health and opioid treatment, and protected reproductive rights. On education, we must increase public school funding, make college affordable, expand vocational training, and aid workers displaced by automation. On racial injustice, we need anti-discrimination enforcement, police accountability, and equal economic opportunity. On government reform, we need campaign finance limits, transparency mandates, and strict accountability for officials. These policies will build a more just, equitable, and sustainable America.
What policies would you support to ease the cost of living and strengthen long-term economic stability for families in this district?
I support policies like my American Economic Security Act, which includes a $50K minimum livable income guarantee, a 50-year tax holiday for the bottom 99%, and a wealth cap to redistribute wealth and promote economic fairness. He also advocates for affordable housing initiatives, property tax relief, and Social Security expansion to ease the cost of living and strengthen long-term economic stability for families in NJ-12. Without national will district level pilot programs need development and implementation to demonstrate these policies to the rest of the country.
What changes would you support to make healthcare and mental health services more affordable, accessible, and easier to navigate?
Nationally Medicare for all, but without national will to structurally change healthcare services, implementing a pilot program to expand Veterans Administration health care to the general population in NJ12 must be implemented with funding, staffing and capacity increases to ensure "zero backlog" optimal service times for both veterans and the general public.
What is your position on immigration reform? What do you think the relationship between federal immigration enforcement and state or local government institutions should be?
Our immigration system needs comprehensive reform. I support a direct pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, permanent DACA protection, an end to for-profit detention, and decriminalized border crossings with humane asylum processing. Immigration enforcement is strictly federal. Local police should never act as immigration agents. I oppose 287(g) agreements and support sanctuary policies that protect community trust.
The real crisis is our immigration courts. Judges handle 3,000 to 4,000 cases each, creating years-long backlogs. These delays force people to pay crushing legal fees for years and risk being labeled non-compliant over minor clerical issues or missed notices caused by system overload. Congress must force hiring enough judges to cap caseloads at 700, guarantee legal representation, and simplify filing so no one falls through the cracks due to bureaucratic failure.
What is your stance on access to abortion and other reproductive healthcare? And what roles should the federal government and the states each play on reproductive healthcare?
Reproductive healthcare is a fundamental right, not a political bargaining chip. I support full access to abortion, contraception, fertility treatment, and maternal care without restriction, stigma, or cost barriers. The federal government must codify Roe into law and guarantee nationwide access so no state can strip these rights away. States should handle implementation and provider licensing, but they cannot ban, restrict, or criminalize abortion. The federal government should fund clinics, protect providers from harassment, and ensure medication abortion is available by mail nationwide. No person should have to travel across state lines or face criminal charges for basic medical care. Healthcare decisions belong between a mother, family, faith and physician, not politicians.
What actions would you support to strengthen climate resilience and protect infrastructure and neighborhoods from the impact of extreme weather?
Winston Jordan Position on Climate Resilience and Infrastructure Protection
Execute Python code
Think
Climate resilience means protecting working families before disaster strikes, not just cleaning up afterward. I support federal investment to harden power grids, elevate flood-prone infrastructure, and upgrade water systems against drought and storm surge. We need stronger building codes, green infrastructure like urban tree canopies and permeable surfaces, and dedicated funding for low-income neighborhoods that historically face the worst damage and slowest recovery.
The federal government should coordinate emergency response, fund resilient infrastructure, and require climate risk assessments for all federally backed projects. States and localities should handle zoning, land use, and implementation, but with federal standards that prevent building in high-risk zones and ensure equity.
What measures do you support to expand voter access and restore trust in our elections?
Every voter deserves to know their vote was counted correctly. I support decentralized, paper-based voting systems with voter-verified paper receipts at every precinct. No purely electronic voting without a hard copy trail. Voters must be able to go online using their printed receipt to confirm their vote was counted accurately. These receipts provide the backbone for routine, foolproof audits that trace every vote back to its precinct. I support mandatory risk-limiting audits after every election, not just after complaints, and open-source voting software so security experts can inspect the code. The federal government should set baseline security and audit standards, but states and localities should choose equipment and run elections with federal funding to upgrade outdated machines. States must automatically register US Citizens to vote. implement blockchain technology to prevent hacking.
