I have served Wayne County for more than 50 years, including as Sheriff, Detroit Police Chief and County Executive since 2015. I hold degrees in social science, criminal justice and law. As Executive, I led the county back from the brink of bankruptcy, restored financial stability and delivered balanced budgets while investing in infrastructure, jobs and small businesses. I am running for reelection to continue that progress, strengthen essential services and expand opportunity for residents across all 43 communities.
What are the priority issues facing this office and what actions would you take to address them if elected?
My priorities are financial stability, infrastructure, public safety and economic opportunity. I remain committed to maintaining disciplined budgets, investing in county roads, bridges and stormwater systems, and working with regional partners to improve transit access to jobs, healthcare and education. I will build on workforce training and small business support, and continue coordinating with law enforcement and community partners to reduce violence. Working across all 43 communities, I will continue to focus on reliable services and responsible use of taxpayer dollars.
