1. What are the two most important issues facing Horry County and how will you address them?
Horry County is facing two urgent challenges: reckless land use and rising cost of living. Overdevelopment in wetlands is worsening flooding and straining infrastructure. I will fight for responsible land use policies that protect residents and preserve our natural systems. At the same time, I’ll push for smarter growth, infrastructure investment, and policies that aim to reduce costs of housing, utilities, and goods so families and retirees can afford to live here.
2. How would you balance the need for adequate infrastructure with the need to protect South Carolina's people and our natural environment?
Horry County’s sustainable future depends on us using what we already have more efficiently. By focusing on updating existing roads, utilities, and services, we can reduce costs, ease pressure on taxpayers, and limit environmental impact. I believe that where there’s a will, there’s a way as long as we are willing to be creative problem solvers. So, I believe in solutions like enabling property owners to generate and contribute power back to the grid, therefore easing the strain on the system AND putting power back in the hands of every day property owners. A solution like this would be cheaper and faster then expanding into undeveloped areas especially while residents are forced to micromanage their energy usage to stay afloat.
