What are the most important challenges facing our country, and how do you propose to address them?
We have a myriad of important challenges to deal with here in 2026 as the voting working-class, including but not limited to:
an authoritarian Administration,
a bought-and-paid-for Congress,
high gas prices,
increasing censorship, surveillance and government overreach,
ICE for-profit detention facilities,
the escalating impacts of climate change,
recklessly built, new AI data centers that are harming local communities,
as well as severe gaps in healthcare, social services and education.
In addition to these important challenges, the U.S. Government is fully complicit in and has actively funded a genocidal, apartheid offensive currently manifesting in Gaza. We need to do everything we can to restore basic human rights to the more than 2.1 million civilians living in Gaza.
In addition, the U.S. Government is complicit in creating urgent human rights crises currently unfolding in the West Bank, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Lebanon, as well as places like Gary, Indiana.
What policies would you support to ease the cost of living and strengthen long-term economic stability for families in this district?
Affordability is the central economic priority for NJ-5. That means working toward comprehensive, compulsory, universal healthcare, expanding the supply of affordable housing, restoring the SALT deduction for high-cost states like New Jersey, and investing in sustainable energy and public transportation.
I support universal childcare and eldercare, tax relief for working families, and policies that increase competition and enforce anti-trust across industries broadly, many of which have been left unregulated to be infected by monopolistic forces.
I would work to invest federal funds in local infrastructure, healthcare, education and clean energy here in NJ. A priority of mine is ensuring large corporations and American oligarchs pay their fair share.
Broadly, we need to redirect federal funds often sent abroad to support other governments, or forever wars, to be redirected back into our country's infrastructure and into increasing safety nets and social services for Americans.
What changes would you support to make healthcare and mental health services more affordable, accessible, and easier to navigate?
I support creating a universal healthcare system in the U.S. similar to Israel's Kupot Holim, which provides compulsory, comprehensive healthcare to every Israeli citizen. This system creates a marketplace of nationally-subsidized, non-profit health plans, while guaranteeing a minimum "Health Basket" of treatments, services and basic medications to all citizens. Private and higher-end services are still available in the free market.
This minimum "Health Basket" includes several services and treatments often viewed as unaffordable, inaccessible or hard to navigate in the United States, such as mental healthcare, abortion, drug abuse treatment, IVF, and other preventive medicines and elective surgeries.
The true mission of healthcare is incompatible with being a for-profit organization. In general, healthcare should be more centralized and much easier to navigate. I plan to work with the most progressive members in Congress on this issue.
What is your position on immigration reform? What do you think the relationship between federal immigration enforcement and state or local government institutions should be?
We need to defund ICE and redirect funding toward a new immigration system centered around human rights, civil rights, due process, pathways to citizenship and keeping families together.
There was a 450% increase in ICE-related deaths in 2025 from the preceding 12-year average of ICE-related deaths. For 2026, we are on-pace for a 600% increase in ICE-related deaths. Medical abuse and overcrowding are extremely prevalent within these Detention Centers. More than 70,000 people are currently in migrant detention in this country.
In New Jersey, both Delaney Hall and Elizabeth Contract Detention Facility must be closed. Both sport poor conditions and overcrowding, and oversee physical, medical and sexual abuse against detainees.
We must get back to a place of respecting basic human dignity and due process. We must never buy into a narrative of second-class citizens. We need to work towards viewing all people, including the undocumented, as human beings with rights and people of value.
What is your stance on access to abortion and other reproductive healthcare? And what roles should the federal government and the states each play on reproductive healthcare?
We must codify Roe v. Wade and protect women's access to women's healthcare. We must work to facilitate a woman's right to choose and access to contraception and all related care.
We must be aware of the Republican Party's fixation with forcing faith into law on this issue, and be more proactive in restoring and protecting women's healthcare into the future.
The federal government should reclaim power from the states on this issue to ensure women's healthcare is accessible nationwide, and is viewed as a minimum piece of general healthcare, as it is in Kupot Holim.
What actions would you support to strengthen climate resilience and protect infrastructure and neighborhoods from the impact of extreme weather?
As a country, and as a federal government, we urgently need to accept the reality that we are now experiencing a climate emergency and more extreme weather as a result of a destabilized climate. We need to de-censor and de-stigmatize valid climate science. We need to steer American innovation towards climate solutions like drastically lowering emissions and reducing waste, as well as readying local communities for extreme weather that is imminent and will be new or is relatively new to that geographic area.
We must prioritize federal investment in flood prevention, modern stormwater and drainage systems, resilient roads and bridges, and a stronger, more reliable electric grid. We need to fund and empower FEMA, the National Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, as well as first responders and relevant NGOs.
We should help municipalities identify vulnerable neighborhoods and infrastructure before disasters occur and provide funding to upgrade local communities, which will save lives.
What measures do you support to expand voter access and restore trust in our elections?
In general, I'm for lowering requirements to vote, not raising them. Election infrastructure is practically non-existent in NJ-5. Critical in-person voting dates in U.S. are held on inaccessible weekdays.
Non-citizens should be allowed to vote if they can prove residence of at least one (1) year. Non-citizens are impacted by the actions of the government, and they deserve a voice.
I believe we need new parties, and new brands of politics in this country. Our Congress would function much better as a multi-party, coalition-building system instead of the hyper-polarized 2-party system we have now, which often results in pendulum politics and extremely inefficient governance.
We desperately need new candidates operating outside the 2-party system that are not bought-and-paid-for by corporations or special interests. These new candidates and new brands of politics can result in higher voter turnout, which currently caps at 60% of eligible voters, even in our most mainstream elections.
