Top 3 Priorities – Nader Shahatit for Board of Equalization

1. Protect Taxpayers from Unfair Audits As a former CDTFA auditor with 17 years of experience, I’ve seen firsthand how aggressive and sometimes inaccurate audits can harm small businesses. My top priority is to ensure audits are fair, transparent, and based on real evidence—not assumptions or flawed formulas. I will advocate for accountability and proper oversight within the system.

Background, Experience & Qualifications – Nader Shahatit

Nader Shahatit brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in California tax administration, including 17 years as an auditor with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA). Throughout his career, he has developed deep expertise in sales and use tax law, audits, appeals, and taxpayer rights, working directly with businesses across a wide range of industries.

After his public service, Nader founded his own tax consulting practice, where he represents taxpayers in audits, appeals, and complex tax matters before the CDTFA and the Office of Tax Appeals. This experience gives him a rare, balanced perspective—having worked inside the system and now advocating for taxpayers navigating it. He understands where the system works, where it fails, and how it can be improved to better serve Californians.

Nader holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, equipping him with both the technical expertise and public policy foundation necessary for effective leadership on the Board of Equalization.

In addition to his tax background, Nader is also a licensed real estate professional, giving him practical insight into property tax issues and the challenges facing homeowners and investors across California.

What sets Nader apart is not just his experience—but his commitment to fairness, transparency, and accountability. He has dedicated his career to understanding California’s complex tax system and helping others navigate it with integrity. He is uniquely qualified to ensure that the Board of Equalization serves its true purpose: protecting taxpayers while upholding the law.
