ELECTIONS: What laws will you support to protect election integrity and secure accurate vote counts?

I will continue to support legislation that protects election integrity by expanding voter access, protecting early voting and vote-by-mail, enabling automatic and same-day voter registration, and safeguarding our democratic institutions for future generations.

I am also strongly opposed to the SAVE act, which aims to restrict voter access and is a threat to our free and fair elections.

IMMIGRATION: Do you support current approaches to enforcing federal immigration laws? Why or why not?

No! The Administration’s reckless approach to immigration enforcement, particularly its use of DHS and ICE, has undermined trust in our justice system and left many communities right here in Maryland living in fear. Recent incidents, including fatal shootings involving federal immigration agents, have only deepened these concerns. Everyone, regardless of status, deserves due process. We need immigration policies that uphold the rule of law while respecting human dignity.

AFFORDABILITY: Many Marylanders are struggling to afford basic expenses such as housing, groceries, childcare, and healthcare. What will you do to make living in the United States more affordable?

During my time in Congress, I’ve supported efforts to lower the cost of living for Maryland families. But those gains are now being undermined by reckless tariffs, which act as a hidden tax on working people and drive up prices on everyday goods. At the same time, Republican attacks on the Affordable Care Act are raising health care costs and threatening coverage for millions. I’m fighting back to reverse these harmful policies and protect Maryland families.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS: What do you see as the United States' role on the world stage?

I support strengthening our alliances and prioritizing diplomacy to achieve our goals and resolve conflicts whenever possible. America is strongest when we work with trusted partners and lead through cooperation, not isolation. We should avoid unnecessary escalation while remaining firm in defense of our values and national interests. Our international actions should reflect the long-term security, stability, and prosperity of the American people.

SAFETY NET: How will you safeguard social safety net programs for the most vulnerable Marylanders?

I strongly support protecting safety-net programs like Social Security, SNAP, SSI, and Medicaid. Republican health care cuts are already raising costs, weakening Medicaid and ACA protections, and putting coverage at risk for millions of Americans. I am fighting to reverse these harmful cuts and restore the protections families rely on. I will continue standing up for Maryland families and defending these essential lifelines.

ELECTIONS: What laws will you support to protect election integrity and secure accurate vote counts?

Right to Vote, publicly owned open-source voting, a National Elections Commission and eliminate barriers for third parties, increasing voter choice. Some talk of “integrity” undermines democracy since it compels many to fearfully stay trapped inside the duopoly; it doesn’t apply in this race since the Republican can’t win. Meaningful election integrity should include taking on how many are effectively bought off by the Epstein class and big money groups like AIPAC, so we need public funding.

IMMIGRATION: Do you support current approaches to enforcing federal immigration laws? Why or why not?

Current laws (not solely enforcement which is ICE and should be stopped) have been so chaotic that it has been impossible for experienced lawyers to keep up. Bipartisan Democrat and Republican policies have been worse than bad policy; they’ve been human rights violations, institutionalizing illegitimate detention and surveillance. Root causes for desperate immigration like US government policies of wars, interventions, corrupt corporate trade and drug policies must also be halted.

AFFORDABILITY: Many Marylanders are struggling to afford basic expenses such as housing, groceries, childcare, and healthcare. What will you do to make living in the United States more affordable?

Oligarchs profit off of wars, economic shocks and technology, then we see higher prices. At times they even aim for scarcity. They should obviously be taxed more, more properly regulated, and short term relief granted to people, but the legal structure of corporate power, which perverted the 14th Amendment which gave citizenship to freed slaves but was insidiously used to grant corporations “personhood” must be confronted. Else, there will be endless manipulations of the economy and technology.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS: What do you see as the United States' role on the world stage?

The establishment parties have made our country more of an empire, backing imperial Israel’s genocide, unconstitutionally attacking Yemen, Iran and Venezuela and now we’re looking at $1.5 trillion of our taxes a year on war. The government has even attacked international law including cases at the ICJ (which I helped push) and the ICC. This has resulted in “imperial boomerang” with attacks on free speech, the right to protest and militarization of policing. Demilitarize and abide by the law.

SAFETY NET: How will you safeguard social safety net programs for the most vulnerable Marylanders?

It’s crucial to stop the privatization slide of Medicare and Medicaid and the threat to Social Security. A recent Yale study found that expanding Medicare could cover everyone, save more than 100,000 lives a year, and still cost $1 trillion less than the insurance company system it would replace. “Safety net” is limiting, we must transform our society into one which prioritizes human needs. Whatever people do to manage day to day, when they vote, they should vote where they want our world to go.
