In theory I do support election day voter registration. However upon speaking to local town clerks, at this point it is not practical in MA. The town voter systems do not speak directly with the state voter system so a person could vote twice and once they vote their vote can't be tracked. Also out of state voter systems are not at all connected, again allowing errors. So until these systems are updated to allow for information to be checked immediately, we can not go forward. The clerks are straight out as it is on election day so we would need more funding to add personnel to work on same day registrants as well.
1. Immediate funding of EV chargers at libraries, schools and public buildings. Incentivize gas stations to add EV chargers. 2. Increase funding for clean water using all methods to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus in our coastal and freshwaters. We must become carbon-neutral without delay, including offshore wind energy. MA is in a key location as the "Saudi Arabia" of offshore wind energy, My district should be an epicenter for Green and Blue Economic Centers and thinktanks. Our waters must be restored and protected. I will establish a Clean Water Caucus in the State House, collaborating with other legislators with like clean water issues to increase funding, study & solutions. End lawn fertiliers No time to wait!
Following the Affordable Housing Bill, on Cape Cod, designate our towns as "Seasonal Communities" to incentivize landlords to return to year round rental housing over short term. Change zoning to allow for more dense building while preserving our open space and conservation lands. Allow Urine Diverting Toilets in affordable housing to end the wastewater barrier. Foster Mixed Use areas for vibrant and walk-able town centers. Support Conservation Land Tax Credit Incentives. Ensure new housing at JBCC includes Veteran, Workforce and Senior housing. Educate homeowners to the benefits of ADUs, esp allowing Seniors to stay in their homes. Provide funding for contractors to build needed affordable and middle market homes rather than mansions
I would support auditing the costs of housing our immigrants. I've read reports of the State paying full rate at hotels and outlandish fees for unhealthy, unappetizing meals. This is not sustainable and only benefits companies, not people. Work to increase ESL training and quicker process for work papers. Then train immigrants in the work we need done here especially in the green and blue economies. Relentlessly pursue federal funding.
Continue to subsidize commuter buses into Boston from Cape Cod. Loudly and consistently be the voice for residents in building the Cape Cod Canal Bridges including local access roads, those losing homes and businesses who must be assisted to find new equitable accomodations, & insist on maximum mitigation. Minimize noise and air pollution during construction and destruction. Support the Bourne Rail to Trail to, a boon to local businesses and our health and safety.
